Why Ariana Grande Will Miss Actor Awards 2026

Ariana Grande won't be skipping award shows forever, but she won't be attending the Actor Awards on March 1st either, as she's currently in rehearsals for her upcoming world tour.

While she won't be there in person to hear who will take home the Female Actor in a Supporting Role, the category, along with its male counterpart, is expected to be one of the most anticipated highlights of the evening. This year's award season has been quite unpredictable for these categories, with frontrunners emerging and then seemingly disappearing.

At the Actor Awards, Ariana is joined in the Female Actor in a Supporting Role category by Odessa A'zion (Marty Supreme), Amy Madigan (Weapons), Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners), and Teyana Taylor (One Battle After Another). Earlier this year, Teyana won at the Golden Globes, Amy at the Critics Choice Awards, and Wunmi at the BAFTAs.

The Male Actor in a Supporting Role category features Miles Caton (Sinners), Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn (One Battle After Another), Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), and Paul Mescal (Hamnet). Much like the female categories, there hasn't been a two-time winner this year: Stellan Skarsgård won for Sentimental Value at the Golden Globes, Jacob at the Critics Choice Awards, and Sean at the BAFTAs.

The lead actor categories have been more straightforward this year. Timothée Chalamet won for his work in Marty Supreme at both the Golden Globes and Critics Choice (losing to British actor Robert Aramayo at the BAFTAs), while Jessie Buckley from Hamnet swept the category at all three major award shows.

Despite not being there in person, Ariana's nomination is an honor she'll never forget. "Thank you so much for this tremendous honor @actorawards @sagaftra," she wrote in an Instagram Story after nominations. "For recognizing this performance a second year in a row and for including me in this group of magnificent women. I'm so moved. Thank you... I adore being part of this community, and this acknowledgement means more than words can say."
