Chase Chrisley isn't exactly on the verge of hearing wedding bells just yet. In fact, his girlfriend Jodi Laine Fournerat—who has been dating Chase for two years—reminisced about why she turned down a marriage proposal from the former "Chrisley Knows Best" star.
"Chase was in the shower, and he was like, 'Hey, we need to talk whenever I get out of the shower.' And I was like, 'Oh gosh, okay,'" Jodi, 30, recounted to Chase’s grandmother, Faye Chrisley, on the September 16 episode of "The Chrisleys: Back to Reality." "So, he gets out, tells me to close the bedroom door, sits on the bed, and starts off by saying, 'You know how much I love you, right?' And immediately, I was like, 'What did you do?'"
"The next thing I know, he gets up off the bed and starts to pull something out of his pocket," Jodi remembered. "And I knew right away, so I turned around so I wouldn’t see the ring or anything. And I was like, 'Chase, get up.' He was kneeling right there, trying to continue with his little speech."
Jodi admitted that Chase became upset after she told him, "We’re not doing this right here, we’re not doing this right now." However, she reassured him that she simply wanted the moment to be special. "I’m like, 'I’m not turning you down,'" she recalled telling Chase. "I’m turning down the environment."
Faye—affectionately known as Nanny Faye—nodded in agreement, adding, "That’s kinda crazy."
According to Jodi—who has been dating the "Growing Up Chrisley" alum since 2023—Chase’s next proposal is going to be much more impressive. "Anything’s better than that," she said. "It’s only up from here."
"And just so we’re clear," she added in a side interview, "I didn’t say no because I don’t want to be proposed to by Chase. I just said no to the environment and the whole scenario of him trying to pop the question in our bedroom."
While Jodi and Chase have Faye’s blessing, his parents, Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley, are a bit more hesitant since they don’t have a relationship with the influencer. "I want him to have a wonderful, beautiful personal life with a relationship that feeds his soul," Todd said in a separate interview alongside Julie. "Someone who’s going to be a wonderful mother to his children, a great wife. Someone that I’m gonna like, that’s important."
"I don’t know Jodi," the family patriarch continued. "Jodi was there the day that we got home, but that was, I think, five minutes that I spoke to her. There’s been really no interaction between us and Jodi."
According to Jodi, she believes that Chase’s issues with his family—including his sister Savannah, 28—have influenced their perception of her. "I feel things are said about me without actually knowing me, whenever other people in the family aren’t very fond of him, I’m linked to that," she shared in her own interview. "Maybe I’m not what they want me to be or whatever just because they may disagree with Chase."
Still, Jodi remains optimistic about forming a bond with the Chrisleys before Chase pops the question again. "I look forward to having a relationship with the rest of his family," she declared. "And being here to support Chase and along for the ride."
