Ed Sheeran is pondering a bold new look with his recent haircut. The "Thinking Out Loud" singer revealed that he's chopped off his usual shaggy locks to mark the start of a fresh chapter in his life.

"Yes, I've shaved my hair," Ed wrote in an April 28 Instagram post, showcasing a photo of his new 'do and sharing insights into his recent life changes. "I wanted to shave it to signify a fresh start. A lot of new beginnings are happening in my life right now."

"I love it," he added. "I'm thinking of keeping it this way." In the candid snapshot, the 35-year-old singer looks down at the ground as he models his new haircut. Wearing a white T-shirt and black sweatpants, Ed gives the camera a shy smile as he places a hand behind his head.

In addition to his new look, the singer-songwriter also revealed that he's been privately battling Shingles. "I've had shingles for the last month," he wrote of the virus that often causes painful rashes. "I wouldn't recommend it, but I'm on the mend now."

But the Grammy winner's hair change isn't the only transformation he's undergone lately. After becoming a dad to daughters Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 3, with wife Cherry Seaborn, Ed recently revealed what inspired his 30-pound weight loss.

"I became a dad," Ed told Men's Health UK in an interview published in December. "I remember when Lyra was two weeks old and I had my best mate over for a bottle of wine. I went to bed, and then Lyra woke up 20 minutes after I fell asleep."

"I was like, 'Fuck, I probably shouldn't drink if I'm going to feel this dreadful,'" he recalled. "'I want to be able to do the night stuff.'" He also wanted to be able to keep up with his little ones. "I didn't want to pick my kid up and have my back messed up and stuff like that," he explained.

Plus, he felt it was time for an overall change in his life. As he put it, "It all came at the same time of wanting to be a responsible dad, wanting to feel and look good."

To achieve his ripped physique, the "Perfect" singer revealed that he's added running, weight lifting, and reformer Pilates to his routine. And the results have been far more rewarding than just the physical payoff.

"I do think that wellness is a direct mirror of mental health and the way you feel," he explained. "I always felt like shit within myself; I'd wake up and look in the mirror and just feel gross."

"I'm not saying I'm done with enjoying myself, I still drink," he added. "I love red wine, I love a nice meal, but it's not every day."
