Ellen Pompeo is shedding light on her decision to keep her 10-year-old daughter from diving into the world of "Grey's Anatomy" just yet. During a recent visit to "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", the actress opened her heart about her children's exposure to the long-standing medical drama that has featured her as Dr. Meredith Grey for two decades.
"My eldest, who is 15, has watched it," Pompeo revealed to host Jimmy Kimmel. "Now, my 10-year-old is eager to see it too, but she's just not ready. However, it seems like half her class has already seen the show."
Pompeo went on, her tone tinged with amusement, "I'm just not prepared for my little one to catch me in my underwear on TV quite yet. But alas, all her classmates have seen it. So, you can imagine the lively conversations we have at school pick-ups!"
In response, Kimmel commented on the quirkiness of Hollywood, recounting an anecdote about "Malcolm in the Middle" star Bryan Cranston coaching his son's Little League team. Pompeo readily agreed, adding, "It is indeed a peculiar realm in that respect, but also an incredibly inspiring one. These kids look around and see individuals whose dreams have come true, fostering a belief that their dreams can become a reality too."
Pompeo, who stars in the show "Good American Family," shares a blissful family life with her husband, Chris Ivery, and their three children — two daughters and a son. Since its debut in 2005, Pompeo has been a staple of the Shonda Rhimes-created series, though she stepped down from her role as a series regular in season 19 of "Grey's Anatomy" in 2023. In the subsequent seasons, she has made guest appearances while continuing to executive produce and narrate the beloved show.
