Why Jason Kelce Regrets His Dramatic Dark Beard Transformation

Published: Aug 28 2025

Jason Kelce has come to the realization that dyeing his beard was a move he wishes he had never entertained. On the August 12th episode of his and Travis Kelce's podcast "New Heights," featuring Taylor Swift, the retired Philadelphia Eagles player opened up about the rationale behind his darker beard debut. Now, on the August 27th edition, he is recanting his enthusiasm for this new look.

"The inspiration for the dyed beard stemmed from a concept for Garage Beer, where I envisioned us taking a trip down memory lane," he elucidated, explaining his beverage company's ambitious plan. "Initially, I toyed with the idea of shaving it off entirely, but then I thought, 'No way, I hate my bare face too much.' So, I settled on dyeing it to reclaim my youth."

However, he admitted that "the chemistry wasn't quite right," and "it ended up darker than anticipated." Jason, who shares Wyatt (5), Elliotte (4), Bennett (2), and Finnley (4 months) with his wife, Kylie Kelce, quipped, "It looked like I'd painted my face with shoe polish."

Despite his reservations about the outcome, he conceded that it wasn't all bad. "It's growing on me," he noted. "I think I pull off the dark beard pretty well." Nevertheless, he eagerly awaits the return of his natural look. "I miss my grays," he confessed. "I can hardly wait for it to grow back."

Ultimately, Jason sought to set the record straight. "I wasn't motivated by vanity," he emphasized. "It was just for a skit. That's all I'm saying."

Of course, Jason's beard wasn't the only highlight of the special podcast episode. Just two weeks prior to Taylor and Travis announcing their engagement, the singer dropped a bombshell by revealing her upcoming album, "The Life of a Showgirl," slated for release on October 3rd.

Throughout the two-hour episode, Taylor and Jason shared numerous laugh-out-loud moments, including when the Grammy winner recounted their first encounter at the AFC Championship game in January 2024. "One of my first memories was you telling Kylie, 'I was shotgunning beers with the Bills Mafia, and I really wanted to jump through one of those fire tables,'" she reminisced. "And she replied, 'OK. Can we not do that right now?'" Jason chuckled, acknowledging, "That's a regular occurrence for me."
