Why Kim Kardashian Says Past Photoshoot With Justin Bieber Was “Inappropriate”

Kim Kardashian is not afraid to confront her past missteps. When asked about a moment in her career that she should have been "canceled" for but wasn't, she didn't hesitate to admit her 2010 collaboration with Justin Bieber, which now she sees in a different light.

"I don't know who approved this, and I don't know who thought that this was normal, this narrative," she told Alex Cooper on the October 15 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast. "But I did a photoshoot with Justin Bieber, and he was 16 years old. And I don't even remember how old I was."

At the time, Kim was 29, and she teamed up with Justin for an Elle magazine spread featuring various suggestive setups, including one where she watched over the "Somebody to Love" singer, now 31, while wearing lingerie, and another where they frolicked on the beach together.

The 44-year-old compared the shoot to the 1967 romantic comedy The Graduate, in which a young college graduate (Dustin Hoffman) is seduced by an older woman (Anne Bancroft). However, she insisted that nothing inappropriate took place, noting that Justin's parents and then-girlfriend Selena Gomez were also present on set.

"Nothing ever weird was obviously happening," Kim emphasized. "I just think that was an odd concept, and why none of us thought that that was odd at the time. But now we look back and I'm thinking, 'That would have not been the most appropriate thing.'"

The SKIMS founder added, "He's a good, dear friend of ours and the whole family, but who thought that that was a good idea?"

While Kim's perception of the photoshoot has changed, she pointed out that she has no other regrets about her life in the public eye. "I've never really done anything to be canceled," she said. "I stand by everything that I... I've never said anything crazy. I've never done anything crazy."
