Carrie Coon is not destined to endure an uncomfortable night—specifically, being in two places simultaneously. The actress, who has been nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television for her role as Laurie Duffy in The White Lotus at the 2026 Golden Globes, announced that she would have to skip the Jan. 11 ceremony in Beverly Hills due to a performance of her Broadway show, Bug. "I won't be able to support my friends or swoon over the artists I admire @goldenglobes tonight," Carrie wrote in a Jan. 11 X post. "But I'm grateful for the recognition, and I know you're all just happy to be at the table. #GoldenGlobes2026 #Bug #WhiteLotus."

As the 44-year-old stars in the Broadway thriller, written by her husband, Tracy Letts, she has previously noted why the couple could never have worked together on season three of The White Lotus. "Here's the thing about Tracy: He's allergic to the sun and he hates the ocean," the actress said of her husband on a February 2025 episode of The Julia Cunningham Show. "So, this was not the season for him. He needs to be in some cold-weathered season down the line."

But Bug wouldn't be the couple's first joint venture. After all, they first met in 2010 while working on the production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and the immediate connection was undeniable. "I was in a relationship when I met Tracy and so was he," the Gone Girl actress said on a 2020 episode of PeopleTV's Couch Surfing. "But I think to anyone who was in the room with us, it was really obvious that there was something inevitable that was going to happen. I almost ran into him in the doorway on the first day of rehearsal, and he said, 'I'm really glad you're here.' And that was it."

Since expanding their family with son Haskell, born in 2018, and their daughter—whose name has yet to be publicly revealed—three years later, the pair's working dynamic has naturally shifted. "The irresistible job is always the one we accommodate," Carrie explained to Harper's Bazaar in 2021. "If one of us gets an offer that is like, 'This is really special,' we make room for it."
