Will Arnett's bond with Amy Poehler transcends the stereotypes of a contentious post-split. As the former couple—who called it quits in 2012 after nine years of marriage—continues to demonstrate their amicable coexistence, the BoJack Horseman actor sheds light on the misconceptions surrounding their friendship. "People think they know it all. Over the years, I've read countless opinions," Will, 55, shared with Rolling Stone in an interview published on December 24th. "It's f--king hilarious to me how much s--t is just made up and they have zero idea. It's like, 'Oh, you think you know what my life is?'"

He continued, "Yes, it's part of celebrity culture that we all participate in." Indeed, Will and Amy, 54, have demonstrated that their split hasn't soured their dynamic, especially when it comes to co-parenting their sons Archie, 17, and Abel, 15. In fact, the Mean Girls alum made a surprise appearance on Will's SmartLess podcast—co-hosted by Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes—in April, an episode Will recently described as "a great one."

"I mean, Amy texted Sean and me this morning saying, 'We all got nominated for Golden Globes, let's party,'" he reflected to the outlet. "And then she said, 'I don't have Bateman's number, that's probably for the best.'" While he relished his ex-wife's presence, Will joked that he was still "unnerved" that their kids didn't tell him about her podcast appearance. After all, Amy revealed in the episode that Archie and Abel had seen her guest spot listed in her schedule and had asked her to keep the surprise a secret.

"They kept it a secret from me," he explained. "My 15-year-old was like, 'Dad, I'm so sorry. I knew and I just didn't want to.' I was like, 'It's OK, dude.'"

Amy's unexpected arrival wasn't the only highlight of the podcast. In fact, Will—also dad to son Alexander, 5, with Alessandra Brawn—shared how he still values her opinion when making major life decisions. "There aren't many people I speak to more than I speak to her," the Twisted Metal star explained in the segment. "But it's great. She's the person I go to, like, 'Hey, I’m thinking about doing this.' Whether it’s life or work, I really seek her counsel because it’s important to me—because I trust her."
