Dakota Johnson isn't about to bid adieu to her inaugural major acting role just yet. Following Aaron Sorokin's affirmation that he will pen a sequel to "The Social Network," inspired by "The Facebook Files" investigation by The Wall Street Journal, Dakota pondered the whereabouts of her character, Amelia, who shared a fleeting encounter with Justin Timberlake's portrayal of Sean Parker. She mused on this hypothetical scenario and her potential return for the upcoming film. "She's dead," Dakota quipped to E! News' Will Marfuggi at the "Splitsville" premiere in New York on August 19. "She probably kicked the bucket somewhere."
Despite Jesse Eisenberg, who famously played Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in the 2010 flick, declining to reprise his role, Dakota hasn't shut the door on a potential resurrection for her character. She elaborated on the possibility with a playful tone, "Why not, indeed? I'd love a cameo."
While the sequel is still in its nascent stages of production, Dakota's fans can catch her much sooner in "Splitsville," which she described as a "decidedly unromantic comedy," hitting theaters on August 22. (For an extended interview with Dakota, tune in to E! News tonight at 11 p.m.)
The 35-year-old actress forewarned fans not to anticipate a fairy-tale ending in this breakup film. However, her co-star Adria Arjona reassured E! News that it's well worth watching, even for its electrifying opening sequences. "The first ten pages of this movie are arguably the wildest I've ever read," gushed the "Hit Man" actress. "I was utterly perplexed, giggling away. It's a riotous blend of comedy, followed by an astonishing stunt within those very first ten pages."
Besides her admiration for the movie, the 33-year-old, who also executive produced the film, couldn't heap enough praise on working alongside Dakota, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. "I adore her," she continued. "She's incredible, so kind-hearted. It was wonderful to forge a friendship amidst this whole experience."
