At the film's premiere on January 28th, 2026, both actors spoke with PEOPLE Magazine about their journey of bringing the intricate novel to life on screen in a new and engaging way. Oliver, 28, confessed that although she was already familiar with Brontë's masterpiece, she was particularly drawn to Fennell's creative vision.

"With a book that dense and complex, I think anyone who's attempting to adapt it has to focus on the parts they want to examine," she explained. "Emerald has such a distinct perspective... I knew her beforehand, and I was just blown away by her approach. I love what she's done."

Chau, 46, on the other hand, admitted that she deliberately chose not to reread the book. "I wanted to maintain some distance from the movie and this entire experience so that I could experience the book as its own unique entity," she shared.

Both actors expressed their admiration for Fennell's vision and their excitement to bring this timeless classic to a new generation of readers through their interpretation of the characters.
