Episode 5 of 1899 commences with Maura's eyes fluttering open, ensconced in a dreamlike state. With haste, she lunges toward a grave adorned with the ominous words "Wake Up" carved into its wooden facade, only to be yanked back into the shadows by unseen hands. Her trajectory leads her to a room where she's bound, injected with an unknown substance, and abruptly thrust back onto the ship.

Upon her actual awakening, Maura is stunned to discover the passengers have imprisoned a young boy within a cabinet, guarded by a menacing metal pipe. A familiar sight, reminiscent of the Prometheus's confinement in episode 1. With determination, Maura advances to liberate the boy, her intentions clear. However, as she nears, time itself seems to halt, granting Maura the ability to manipulate her surroundings. She plucks a bullet from mid-air, bewildered by this sudden power. The only constant moving alongside her is the boy, who emerges from the cabinet once Maura breaks his bonds.

He guides her by the hand, escaping the room and unfreezing time, leaving those inside bewildered and disbelieving. Meanwhile, Iben remains cold to her son, burdened by Krester's sexuality, preventing her from truly embracing him. Tove addresses this, ultimately leading to her seizing the gun and marching away with purpose.

Clemence uncovers the truth about Lucien, including his elaborate lies that have brought them all to this point. Lucien's sorrowful words echo, "You are a constant reminder of what I can't have," tears streaming down his cheeks. He realizes his life has been a facade since he assumed the role of a lieutenant.

A strange ticking noise echoes, inciting a horde of crewmembers to march towards the deck in unison. The noise resonates through the cabins like a hypnotic siren, dividing the group into the lucid and the entranced. With Ling-Yi's mother taking command, she gracefully plunges into the water, followed by the other passengers, Krester among them.

Maura questions the boy about the unfolding events, and he scribbles, "They are listening," before continuing onward. He insists she must speak to the Creator for answers. This leads Maura to a hidden hatch beneath the cabin, a gateway to the strange vision that has plagued the early chapters of this narrative.

Descending through an eerie crevice, she finds herself in a familiar vision, its details strikingly similar—a cross and a distant house looming in the background. Daniel, noticing the hatch ajar, presses buttons on his device, revealing a concealed compartment that houses this portal. The young boy stands there, Daniel whispering, "It knows we're here now." Their cryptic conversations about the Creator and its past failures to reach this far only add to the confounding puzzle of what's truly transpiring.

Intriguingly, a cryptic telegram arrives on the ship, its terse message reading, "Sink Ship." Meanwhile, Daniel descends into the engine room, determined to troubleshoot the malfunction. Unexpectedly, one of the engineers lunges at him, choking him out while shouting accusations of being a "wolf." Despite the assault, Daniel manages to press a few crucial buttons, and suddenly, the aggressor slumps into a docile state.

Elsewhere, Maura delves deeper into her subconscious, encountering a house marked with the words "Mental Health." The place is eerily silent, yet she persists until she reaches Room 1011, the same number as her cabin. As she pushes open the door, she finds the familiar chair from earlier visions. Emerging from the shadows stands her father, who promptly seats her and administers an injection. When she awakens, she finds herself back on the ship, lying in bed.

Eyk rushes to her side, demanding explanations. Gradually, the truth emerges. Maura was born Maura Singleton, and her father is Henry Singleton, the owner of the fleet. She believes this entire ordeal is an experiment orchestrated by her father, a man more fascinated with behavioral science than shipping. Maura had a strained relationship with her brother, who had wanted to meet her at Southampton docks. She waited, but he never arrived. Later, she learned that the Prometheus, one of her father's ships, had departed from that dock a day earlier. Given her brother's disappearance four months ago, it's plausible he was aboard that vessel.

Maura captures the green beetle again and uses it to unlock the portal in the Captain's hatch, revealing a bizarre new realm. Eyk hears the familiar melody his daughter sang in his visions, and together, they stumble upon the Captain's house instead of a mental institution. Could each cabin conceal such a secret?

As more truths unravel, Eyk Larsen discloses even more chilling revelations. It transpires that his signature appears on the Prometheus' passenger list, suggesting he was the captain of that ship. Just as this shocking revelation sinks in, they ascend to the deck, where the ticking noise has ceased (likely due to Daniel's repairs) and survivors gather in confusion. The Captain receives another telegram, repeating the ominous "sink ship" message, but Daniel's presence clarifies that they're referring to the Kerberos, not the Prometheus.

Yet, this is not the end. Remember the enigmatic arrow symbols? Henry Singleton, seated in a luxurious office, receives these symbols related to "Project Kerberos" and urgently informs his subordinate that time is running out. He requires the boy for some unknown purpose. Standing and gazing out the window, he beholds a towering pyramid looming on the horizon. What mysterious events are unfolding?
