Published: Nov 13 2024

Episode 5 of "4Minutes" kicks off with an exhilarating scene of Title indulging in a lively club atmosphere, unaware of the looming danger. A sly girl slips him a drug, and as he succumbs to its effects, Tonkla materializes, paying her off with a sinister smile.

In the meantime, Tyme and Great find themselves still shackled within the restrictive walls of an unfamiliar hotel room. With tender, gentle strokes, Tyme plucks his guitar for Great's ears, unveiling a heart-wrenching chapter from his past—a life where, untouched by fate's cruel hand that snatched his parents away, he would have passionately chased a career in music. Sensing the profound depth of his friend's emotions, Great asks, his voice laced with concern, if Tyme is utterly convinced that the Sriwats bear the blame for his parents' tragic end. This inquiry unleashes a tempest of feelings within Tyme, who can't mask his visible distress.

He proceeds to elaborate on the harrowing tale, explaining that his relentless pursuit of evidence is a desperate attempt to gain credibility and validation. So far, his only tangible clue is his mother's diary, which details her investment in the Sriwat cargo service—funds that were unfortunately misappropriated for their illicit gambling operations. To silence Tyme's parents and cover their tracks, the Sriwats deployed ruthless thugs to harass them relentlessly, ultimately leading to their untimely deaths.

Elsewhere, Nan's storyline unfolds as Samarn deceivingly brings her to the hospital, claiming she suffers from appendicitis. However, Tyme's sharp instincts detect the truth—Nan is actually experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. His astute observation doesn't escape the fact that Samarn is dressed in the Sriwats uniform, prompting Tyme to offer his assistance. Nan, initially resistant and guarded, turns down his help and we witness her returning to the shadowy world of the gambling department, her resolve unbroken despite the challenges she faces.

She bears a deep sense of duty towards her childhood friend, Mon, who remains trapped in the same monotonous existence solely due to her circumstances. Similarly, Samarn, much like Nan, finds Mon with child. However, one fateful day, he violently beats her, causing her to suffer a miscarriage and ultimately losing her life. Nan, furious beyond measure, accepts Tyme's proposition to dismantle the Sriwat family.

At this juncture, Great requests time to ponder over a more prudent approach. Tyme, almost on the verge of refusing, has little to lose, yet Great gently reminds him of his grandmother's wellbeing. Despite his concern for his own parents, Great's affection for Tyme is evident. The doctor, torn between his duties and emotions, ultimately agrees.

Samarn, in the meantime, informs Korn about Great's rescue of Nan. Korn, the ruthless enforcer, intends to inform Mr. Sriwat immediately, but Samarn, disregarding his order, betrays him by alerting the Sriwats. Mr. Sriwat orders Samarn to track down Nan's accomplice, while Mrs. Sriwat frantically tries to reach her son. Her attempts are thwarted as Great's phone is unreachable, prompting Mr. Sriwat to reprimand her for failing to keep her son in line. She fiercely reminds him that Great is his flesh and blood too, before storming out in anger.

Great, on his way to his condominium, is intercepted by Korn, who warns him to steer clear of illegal activities. Great stands his ground, refusing to comply, leading Korn to declare that he can no longer guarantee his safety. An enraged Great proceeds inside, only to be astonished by the sight of his clock showing 11:03.

Elsewhere, Tyme returns home to find his grandmother surrounded by Mr. Sriwat and his guards. Mr. Sriwat issues an ultimatum: stay away from Great and abandon his vengeful pursuit, in exchange for a 5-million-baht payout. Torn between loyalty and survival, Tyme caves in when he sees his grandmother's terror. Alone, he is heartbroken, longing to explain his actions, but his grandmother simply offers him comfort.

Later, Tyme visits Nan in the hospital, inquiring about the documents. To his surprise, she reveals that she never sent them but instead backed them up to a cloud. He instructs her to delete them, revealing his compromise. Nan, realizing his betrayal, borrows a nurse's phone to expose Sriwat's gambling operations by posting the documents online.

The news spreads like wildfire, reaching Manee, the victim of a car crash, who watches the broadcast with a sinister smile as she gazes at her deceased son's photographs. This confirms her suspicion that her son's debts were incurred due to the Sriwats' machinations.

Meanwhile, the Sriwats scapegoat Korn for Nan's exposure. When Korn reminds them of Great's involvement, Mrs. Sriwat counters by blaming him for failing to control Great. Korn's fiery response incenses his stepfather, prompting Mr. Sriwat to strike him.

Korn's turmoil remains far from resolution as Fasai pays him a visit, confidently asserting that her father possesses the means to rectify any situation. However, she demands a reciprocal gesture: Korn must wed her and sever ties with Tonkla. Attempting to escape this ultimatum, Korn finds himself cornered, as Fasai insists he has no alternative. A whirlwind of emotions swirls within him before he reluctantly kisses her hand in submission.

Elsewhere, Manee ventures into a temple seeking a fortune telling session. The card drawn, numbered #4, foresees the sorrowful parting of loved ones. With a heavy heart, she offers her life's savings to the priest, unaware that the temple serves as a covert hideout for assassins.

Meanwhile, Great is astounded to discover that Korn has blocked him, and Tyme remains inaccessible. Suspecting his parents' involvement in Tyme's disappearance, he confronts them, accusing his father of being responsible for numerous deaths. Mr. Sriwat retorts that Great's cushioned life is a product of the company's dealings, urging gratitude. Disgusted, Great severs ties with his father and storms out.

Mrs. Sriwat hastily pursues Great, pleading for him to reconcile with his father. He flatly refuses and reproaches her for her authoritative demeanor. Mrs. Sriwat then confesses that her actions were solely for his welfare, revealing that without her interventions, he would have been born into a life of shame and secrecy as the mistress's child. She earnestly begs him, one final time, to mend fences with Sriwat, but Great remains unyielding.

As he prepares to leave, Great spots the temple assassin lurking nearby. In a sudden flash, he rewinds time by four minutes, intercepting the fatal bullet meant for him. The assassin's shot pierces his abdomen, and as he collapses, his mother catches him. He urges her to flee, but she stands her ground, leading to her tragic demise as the assassin executes a second shot, striking her in the head.

The narrative transitions to Den's research on cardiac arrests, revealing that the brain can remain functional for four minutes without oxygen. During this brief window, patients may revisit pivotal moments in their lives, often mistaking these visions for supernatural interventions. This phenomenon not only rekindles false hope for redemption but also subjects the patient to the very pain they are enduring in reality.

As Great's life ebbs away, his consciousness drifts back to the fateful day of the exam when he inadvertently ran over Manee. Flash-forwards interwoven with his present circumstances hint at unfulfilled moments with Tyme, suggesting that these visions are indeed glimpses from his actual life experiences.

In the hospital's ER, Den and Nurse Bee engage in their usual squabble when Great is rushed in, critically injured. Recognizing him, Den hastily informs Tyme, who is currently in hiding at his aunt's home with his grandmother. Amidst her blessings, Tyme dashes out to his friend's side.

The closing scene of Episode 5 of "4Minutes" paints a poignant picture: Tyme, dressed in the same shirt he wore when shot at the series' inception, stands poised, while a patient, presumably Great, flatlines in the hospital at 11 PM, leaving a cliffhanger that hints at a heart-wrenching conclusion.
