The episode begins with a masked man entering Apartment 11. Inside, there's a liquefied dead body in the bathtub. He takes a photo, pulls the fire alarm, and leaves around 5:38 am. The scene cuts back to 56 days ago.

Oliver Kennedy spots Ciara Wyse at a supermarket and pretends to bump into her. He's quite forward, asking her out for coffee, and she gives in. He works in architecture while she's an IT tech. Initially, she's wary of him, but they end up bonding over their shared interest in everything outer space.
Back to the present day, Detective Lee Reardon is waiting for his partner, Karl. He's a bit of a party animal who likes to drink and sleep around, after his ex-wife cheated on him. They head to Seaport, a newly minted rich Boston neighborhood. No one knows who lived in Apartment 11, and Lee notices the downstairs neighbor watching her.
It's Day 3. Oliver lives in Apartment 11. He's getting ready for his date with Ciara and gets his new driver's license with the Boston address. He ditches his old one which states that his surname is Jennings and he's from San Francisco. He takes Ciara to a fancy bar where they get to know each other better. She takes the chance to call him out for lying about never being to the bar when the hostess clearly knows him. He rambles that he just wanted to explore the city with her and apologizes for lying. Her walls are still up, but she starts having a good time.
They end up on the topic of secrets, and Ciara declares that she hates them. A bit nervous, Oliver rushes to the bathroom. He leaves a voicemail for a Dan from Troxler Psychotherapy, claiming he's doing it again. There's a redhead outside the bathroom who seems to have heard him.
Ciara pockets the bar's matchsticks when he returns and calls it a night. Outside, he kisses her before apologizing. She's okay with his forward behavior, but he sends her home alone.
On Day 4, we witness Ciara residing in a desolate studio apartment, plagued by maggots in a disadvantaged neighborhood. Her sister, Shyla, pays her a visit and they engage in a heartfelt conversation about their delusional mother, with Shyla taking care of their mother while Ciara shoulders the financial burden. Their discussion eventually veers towards Ciara's romantic life, and Shyla observes that Ciara is hesitant to discuss her new beau as she senses he's not good for her.
At Oliver's workplace, his boss, Elliot, delivers a speech about how it's a fresh start for Oliver. He seems a bit peeved but calls Ciara to set up a movie date. His focus is momentarily diverted as he watches Elliot interact with a woman in red.
The movie date commences, and they watch an Apollo 11 documentary. Oliver chuckles during a test run crash, which makes Ciara uncomfortable. He tries to persuade her that the astronauts were having fun, but when she doesn't buy it, he takes her to one of his construction sites and pushes her towards an industrial fan, which she enjoys. They recreate the Titanic pose. He invites her to his luxurious apartment, where he takes control and is quite dominant in bed, which she finds intriguing.
Later, she questions him about the scar on his rib, which he simply brushes off as an old accident. She falls asleep and wakes up to find him working out. In the morning, he appears tired and reveals that he suffers from insomnia. He's in a foul mood but agrees to round #2, which confuses her.
On Day 5, the cops obtain a search warrant for Apartment 11. At the same time, Karl's hook-up, Hannah, posts an NSFW video with his gun (no pun intended). He rants about his troubled life, and Lee is fed up with his personal problems. Back to the case, the cops discover tickets, uneaten food, Ciara's green coat, and the bar's matchsticks.
The redhead from the bar, Jane, approaches Ciara and warns her to be cautious of Oliver. Ciara plays it off lightly but secretly photographs her when Jane leaves. She also has photos of Oliver's apartment, including his safe and a syringe. She then pulls out her notebook, which also contains facts about outer space.
The timeline rewinds to Day 1. Ciara practices saying her name and introducing herself. We see printouts of her supposed company badge. At the supermarket, she tries to present herself in an alluring manner.
