Athena steps in to investigate, enlisting Maddie's help. An officer discovers Chimney's smashed phone, and they realize there are security cameras in the vicinity. Maddie and Hen head to the 911 dispatch center to sift through the footage, where they witness Chimney's near-miss with the bus and his subsequent bizarre behavior on the vehicle. They track down the bus and are startled to find Chimney talking to himself, seemingly hallucinating.

It soon becomes apparent that Chimney is indeed hallucinating, as he imagines Maddie's abusive ex-husband Doug, who taunts him with a twisted gift: a knife that Maddie could use to stab him in the back. The episode takes a dark and unsettling turn as Chimney's mental state deteriorates, leaving Maddie and the others scrambling to find him and piece together the events that led to his current state. After disembarking from the bus, Chimney embarked on a mission to locate the karaoke bar where he had once entertained customers. His search led him to engage in conversation with a baker, who revealed the devastating news that the karaoke bar had been destroyed by fire years ago. However, their discussion was abruptly interrupted when Chimney caught sight of Doug and promptly fled the scene.

Athena happened to stumble upon the bakery owner and was informed of Chimney's erratic behavior. It was then that she realized that Chimney had indeed worked at the karaoke bar decades ago, sparking concerns that he might have lost two decades worth of memories. Suddenly, a memory clicked in her mind - they had recently encountered another individual who had also forgotten significant chunks of his life. This man, trapped in the air ducts, seemed to have forgotten years of his existence, falsely accusing his fiancee of cheating on him, unaware that they had actually divorced 17 months prior.

With growing alarm, Hen contacted the hospital to inquire about the patient's condition. She learned that he had been diagnosed with viral encephalitis, an inflammation of the brain typically triggered by a viral infection. This revelation explained Chimney's struggle to retain memories - his brain, under attack, was malfunctioning. They feared that Chimney might have contracted the virus while treating the patient in close proximity and urgently needed medical attention to avoid a fatal outcome like the patient.

Upon learning that Chimney was stricken with encephalitis and urgently needed treatment, our concerns escalated instantaneously! As the team scrambled to locate Chimney, he unexpectedly witnessed a catastrophic car accident and immediately sprang into action, assisting the injured victims. It was as if a switch had been flipped, activating his innate training as he valiantly aided as many individuals as he could. In a blur of activity, he dashed off again upon spotting Doug, unknowingly missing Bobby, Buck, Eddie, and Athena, who had arrived on the scene in search of him.

Chimney's gaze fell upon Doug once more, causing him to believe he was in dire straits due to his hands and shirt being stained with blood from aiding the crash victims. His mind played tricks on him, convincing him that Buck was hunting for him because he had somehow done wrong. As Doug harshly declared that Chimney was sick in the head, Chimney collapsed, sending our hearts racing!

When Chimney regained consciousness, he beheld his brother Kevin, who urged him to gather his strength and return home. Chimney mustered every ounce of energy to make his way home, not to his abode with Maddie, but to the familiar embrace of his parents' residence. His parents entered the room to find Chimney repeatedly inquiring about Kevin's whereabouts before succumbing to unconsciousness once again.

Fortunately, his parents acted swiftly, transporting Chimney to the hospital in the nick of time. Upon waking, Chimney's eyes met Maddie's, who awaited him with bated breath. His words stumbled initially, causing a fleeting moment of panic as we feared he might have suffered irreparable brain damage. However, he eventually managed to convey his profound apology for missing their wedding day, revealing that he remembered everything. Without hesitation, he declared his desire to wed Maddie without further delay.

And so, it came to pass that the lovebirds exchanged vows in the hospital, surrounded by a blissful assembly of family and friends. It was a hospital wedding ceremony unparalleled in beauty, a testament to the unbreakable bond between Chimney and Maddie, despite the challenges they faced.
