Episode 2 opens with Roger delivering the sobering news to Charlie that he's largely on his own in this predicament, as the number of willing helpers dwindles with each passing phone call. Roger intends to meet with Harry Zale once again and insists that Charlie accompanies him this time, lest Charlie gets overwhelmed by Zale's banking jargon. Roger assures Charlie of his support, but first, they must tackle Conrad's arraignment.

Meanwhile, Raymond discovers that Charlie has requested another meeting with Zale, who is confident he'll once again embarrass Charlie. Harry taunts Raymond, asking if he thinks he can handle Charlie, and Raymond confidently replies, "Why not?" It's evident that Harry's primary concern isn't retrieving the bank's money but rather proving his superiority over Charlie.

During the meeting, Charlie proposes paying 180 million within 60 days, but Harry dismisses it as unfeasible. Roger intervenes, arguing that if the bank decides to foreclose, they'll face even greater problems. The bank would have to list the 800 million owed as a loss, which is currently counted as an asset. Furthermore, they'd be held accountable for breaching the lender-borrower contract. However, Harry remains unfazed and tells Charlie that his days as a wealthy man are numbered.

Stroock suggests selling assets, but since it will take time, he advises Charlie to find a white knight - a potential investor who could lend Charlie a billion dollars and save him from ruin. Charlie can only think of one person: Herb Richman.

Roger accompanies Jill to court for Conrad's hearing, but they encounter a roadblock when the judge, a notorious racist, sets bail at a million-dollar bond. Elsewhere, Raymond attends a deposition with Sirija, a woman he had a one-night stand with. It's clear that Sirija is attempting to squeeze money out of Raymond. Raymond takes her out for dinner and agrees to pay her half a million dollars. After some back and forth, Sirija reluctantly agrees.

Charlie invites Herb to his sprawling 25,000-acre quail plantation in a bid to secure his investment in Croker Industries. Charlie also brings his son, Wally, along to paint himself as a family man. To impress Herb and show that he's not afraid of death, Charlie boldly picks up a venomous rattlesnake with his bare hands, a daring move that leaves Herb both horrified and intrigued.
