Meanwhile, in the sterile confines of Wes's office, tension mounts as he queries Roger about his progress in uncovering the identity of the woman Norman assaulted. It seems Roger has barely scratched the surface of the investigation. Despite their shared history, having graduated from the same law school, their paths have diverged; Wes chose a career in criminal law, while Roger found his niche working for Charlie Crocker. However, Roger's loyalties are now wavering, and he's contemplating a switch to criminal law.

Later, Roger steps into the courtroom to represent Conrad, making the decisive choice to take the case to trial. Conrad, meantime, is remanded to Fulton until a trial date is set.

At Turpentine, Herb wastes no time getting to the heart of the matter with Charlie. He makes it clear that he knows the ranch visit is merely a business transaction. Herb demands honesty and transparency, stating that while he respects Charlie and his loving family, he cannot invest unless he's convinced of its profitability. Little does Herb realize that Charlie is desperate and will stop at nothing to sway him. Despite Charlie's best efforts to dazzle and impress, everything falls flat, and Herb makes the decision to return home.

Upon hearing about Herb's meeting with Charlie, Harry sets in motion "Operation Takedown," a ruthless plan to seize Crocker's assets and sell them to recoup the loan. He instructs Raymond to contact Mark Thorgen, a renowned attorney, in case they encounter Roger White again. The first casualty of this ruthless operation is Charlie's prized Challenger 600 private jet, a symbol of his wealth and status. This not only angers Charlie but also humiliates him in front of the Ritchmans. To compound his misfortune, Harry manages to obtain Charlie's medical records and discovers that unless he treats his knee injury, he will soon be confined to a wheelchair.

The problem is, the procedure costs a staggering million dollars, a sum the bank would never approve, especially given Charlie's already immense debt of a billion dollars. Despite Strooker's warnings, Charlie decides to attend the gala, ignoring the hefty $20,000 price tag for a seat. He sees it as a golden opportunity to meet potential investors. Raymond Peepgrass and Harry Zeal, representing the bank, are also in attendance. Amidst the glitz and glamour of the party, Charlie bumps into Joyce and eagerly asks her to clear her schedule for lunch, hoping to discuss Norman Bagovitch and perhaps secure her investment.
