Episode 6 of A Small Light kicks off with a tender scene, where a nurturing nurse attends to the needs of a helpless young child. Her mission is urgent: to whisk the infant, a cherubic bundle belonging to a Jewish mother, to a sanctuary beyond the clutches of the Nazis before they can seize him and condemn him to the transit camp.

Jan, a stalwart ally, steps into the fray and manages to slip through the Nazis' clutches, aiding in the covert operation. The Nazi-affiliated nurses, who are also seeking a refuge from the regime's clutches, join the fray. Once the baby is safely relocated, these nurses, along with Max, a Councilman, seek refuge at the humble abode of Miep and Jan.

Miep's heart skips a beat when she learns that her new neighbor is an NSB officer, a chilling reminder of the danger lurking outside their doorstep. Meanwhile, Mrs. Stoppleman, Miep's kindly landlady, encounters a fellow fugitive who offers her a sanctuary. In exchange, this woman asks Jan to temporarily shelter her son, Kuno, at their home.

But things take a turn for the worse when Kuno contracts a sinus infection, his condition deteriorating rapidly. The tension mounts as they fear for his life, but miraculously, Kuno pulls through. Relief floods their hearts as a gush of mucus and blood pours from his nostrils, signaling the end of his ordeal.

Max has secured a hideout beyond the town's borders, but reaching it is fraught with peril, given the Nazis' tight surveillance. Yet, in a stunning twist of fate, a Nazi officer unexpectedly comes to their rescue, assisting Jan in smuggling Max, his wife, the two nurses, and the others to the secure hideaway.

Miep's anxiety about the Franks has been escalating as the Nazis have tightened their grip, intensifying surveillance and raids after obtaining lists of Jewish hideouts. The situation is dire, but what troubles Miep even more is the deteriorating mental state of Edith Frank. Her longing for the sun is becoming increasingly unbearable, and one fateful day, she ventures out of their hiding place, a risky maneuver that fills Miep with dread.

Despite the constant danger, Miep strives to infuse moments of joy into the lives of the hidden families. Their potato vendor, Gerrit, recognizes her as the guardian angel sheltering them in the annex and gifts her a handful of strawberries. With a silent thank you, Miep presents the fruit to the Franks, a small gesture meant to brighten their dim existence.

On another day, as Miep ventures into the office complex, a Nazi officer suddenly commands her to freeze, a gun trained on her. The tension mounts as she braces herself, her heart thumping in her chest. The officer's gaze is cold and unyielding, and Miep knows that any slip-up could mean disaster for the Franks. She swallows her fear and stands firmly, determined to protect the lives she holds so dear.
