Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials – Season 1 Episode 2 1

Fast forward to 1925, after Ronny's funeral, Bundle shares Gerry's cryptic mention of Seven Dials with Jimmy. However, Jimmy has no idea what it means. Since Jimmy knows Gerry's sister, Lorraine, he agrees to set up a meeting between her and Bundle.

On another occasion, Bundle spots the man with the moustache staring at her and follows him in her car to his office in London. The man is revealed to be Superintendent Battle, who is investigating something related to Gerry's death. To Bundle's surprise, Battle suggests she may be implicated in Gerry and Ronny's deaths. She brings up Seven Dials and shows him the letter Gerry wrote. Battle reveals that Seven Dials is also the name of a club. He advises her to stay away from the investigation, but it doesn't deter her.

Bundle has dinner with Bill, who tells her that Seven Dials is a nightclub frequented by artists and people from the foreign office like Gerry and Ronny. Bundle insists they go there and is surprised to see one of the footmen at Chimneys, Alfred, working as a bouncer at the club. After some dancing, Bundle follows Alfred through a side door and discovers a large staircase leading to a door with a clock engraved on it. She picks the lock and enters to find a large table with a clock painted on it and several other clocks on the mantle piece. Suddenly, a group of people wearing robes and clock masks enter the room, each identified by a specific number. Number 7 is tasked with attending a meeting at Wyvern Abbey to "secure Dr Matip's formula."

Later, Bundle narrates all of this to Jimmy. Lorraine joins them, and Jimmy introduces the two. Bundle shows her the letter Gerry was writing to Lorraine, and Jimmy accidentally reveals Bundle's discovery to Lorraine as well. They discuss the event at Wyvern Abbey, and Bundle says she will try to secure an invite from George Lomax.

She dials George Lomax, who is taken aback by her knowledge of the event. However, his opinion changes when Bundle reveals that her mother is offering assistance and advice in organizing the event. Lomax is thrilled and rushes to Bundle's house to meet with Lady Caterham. He explains that the Prime Minister has convened this gathering to discuss an inventor named Cyril Matip, who has patented a method of making steel virtually indestructible. Lomax also divulges that he received a threatening letter from Seven Dials, presuming it was from a competitor vying for the invention. When Bundle expresses her interest in politics, he extends an invitation to the event to her.

The day of the event arrives, bringing together Bundle, Lomax, the Cootes, and even Jimmy, who secured an invite through Bill. Mr. Matip, the black man from the flashback at the beginning of the episode, soon arrives and greets everyone. He heads into the house to rest before dinner, while Superintendent Battle is also present to provide security.

At dinner, Cyril Matip recounts his past - his birth in Cameroon, his subsequent move to Germany to study, and his involvement in the war. He also describes how white Europeans made Africans fight other Africans, leading him to lose his entire family. When Oswald Coote asks to see his work, Matip presents his pocket watch, which has been made from a nearly indestructible metal. As a demonstration, Matip allows Oswald Coote to shoot at the pocket watch, which barely leaves a mark. Matip explains that he wanted the metal to render war obsolete.

After dinner, Bundle and Jimmy sneak around when Bill catches them and scolds Bundle for getting involved. Instead of listening, she ropes him into their plan to keep a watch on Matip's room and ensure no one steals the formula from him. Jimmy and Bill take turns keeping watch and don't let Bundle take her turn. So, Bundle changes her clothes and climbs out the window, only to be caught by Battle, who reprimands her and makes her go back inside.

However, once inside, she discovers that no one is keeping watch on Matip. A commotion occurs nearby and shots are fired, rousing everyone else in the house as well. Bundle and the others rush into the room to find a dead body lying by the window.
