Alex Rider – Season 3 Episode 7

Published: Jun 11 2024

Episode 7 kicks off with an intense standoff between Alex and Jones. Alex, gun in hand, confronts Jones with a demand to know why she deceived him for so long. Despite the fury boiling within him, Alex deliberately aims off-target, his shot falling harmlessly. Tears streaming down his face, he reveals a bombshell: Scorpia has presented him with evidence that Jones ordered the sniper who killed his father, John Rider.

Jones strives to soothe Alex's rage and reason with him. She offers a sincere apology for her actions, urging him to see that he's not like Scorpia and can break free from their manipulative grasp. She presses a panic button, and suddenly, the room is swarmed with agents who quickly apprehend Alex.

Blunt rushes to Jones' apartment to ensure her safety. Jones assures him that Alex never intended to harm her. To gain an edge against their adversaries, the department stages a ruse, making it appear as if Alex has successfully completed his mission.

Alex Rider – Season 3 Episode 7 1

Yassen, watching from afar, witnesses paramedics carrying a body bag out of the apartment and a masked man being escorted into a car by agents. This carefully crafted ruse begins to convince Yassen that the deception is genuine.

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Nile and Julia are busy preparing for their final assault on London. Julia has a sinister plan: using a church as a base to expose innocent civilians to cyanide nanoparticles, sending them to their untimely deaths.

At the MI6 black site, Blunt offers Alex a deal: if he provides information about Scorpia and the invisible sword, the department will answer all his burning questions. But Alex is at a loss; he only knows the name of the mission, nothing more. Since he hasn't committed any crimes, Alex is freed and dropped off at Jack's house, where he reunites with Tom and Kyra.

As time ticks relentlessly onward, the gravity of Britain's situation intensifies with each passing moment. Jones presents a perilous plan, proposing to wield Alex as a lethal weapon against Scorpia. Blunt, though hesitant, concedes that they are bereft of other viable options. However, Jones insists that Blunt reveal the truth about the events that unfolded two decades ago to Alex before he is reinstated into their ranks.

Meanwhile, Yassen returns to Julia, pleading to reclaim Alex. But Julia, her voice cold and unyielding, rejects his offer, revealing that Alex was never truly an asset to her but merely a pawn in her larger scheme. Shockingly, Julia has already exposed Alex to cyanide nanoparticles, ensuring that when the trigger is pulled, not only will Alex perish, but the entire city of London will be dragged down with him.

This revelation stirs Yassen to anger, as his sole mission from the outset was to safeguard Alex. Confronting Julia, he demands the truth, and she reluctantly unfolds the entire sordid tale. Upon learning the extent of Julia's machinations and her exploitation of Scorpia to fuel her personal vendetta, Yassen is appalled. He accuses her of madness and strides away, his faith in her shattered.

Elsewhere, Blunt leads Alex to the bridge, the fateful locale where their journey began. Standing there, Blunt confesses the truth: John Rider, Alex's father, was never a Scorpia operative. In fact, he was a loyal agent of MI6 throughout. The department deliberately sabotaged John's career, making him appear as a free agent to lure Scorpia into approaching him. For three years, John secretly served the department, feeding Scorpia false information and saving countless lives.

However, after Alex's birth, John desired a normal, peaceful life, free from the shadows of espionage. To protect his family and maintain his cover, the department staged his assassination. Realizing she had been duped, Julia sought vengeance. She orchestrated a bombing on the plane carrying John and his wife, but thankfully, Alex, who was not on board, escaped the carnage.

As the episode draws to a close, Alex expresses gratitude to Blunt for revealing the truth and vows to assist the department in destroying Scorpia once and for all.
