Bridgerton – Season 1 Episode 7 1

Given how much power Whistledown has in this society, Eloise wonders whether they can turn their fortunes and spin something positive from this.

Marina’s deception finds herself shunned while Colin is forced to stay away from the girl by his family. Daphne suddenly shows up and reveals that the Queen has an upcoming luncheon. It’s the perfect opportunity for her and Simon to steal the spotlight away from this current scandal and provide some much needed respite.

As Colin leaves the room, Daphne follows and they talk about the marriage. Colin admits that he loves Marina, despite spending around 30 minutes of screen-time with her. Colin senses something is up with his sister and tries to press his sister on what this may be. However, Daphne remains distant and refuses to speak to him about Simon.

That evening, Daphne echoes her plan to Simon who shows up late after fighting with Will in the ring. As they discuss their marriage, Simon decides they should be married in name only. He no longer trusts her and things are estranged between them.

Marina and Colin finally came face to face, confronting each other about the events that had transpired. Across the room, Daphne witnessed the tense encounter, realizing that their situation resonated deeply with her own. As Colin mentioned communication, a word that echoed in her mind, she recognized the irony in his words. Had Marina only confessed the truth, Colin would have married her.

Meanwhile, the Queen's luncheon progressed, with Eloise being summoned aside by the Queen to reveal Whistledown's identity. Queen Charlotte was displeased with Eloise's indecision and demanded an answer. Elsewhere, Lady Danbury arrived, greeting the Duke and Duchess with warmth. She extended an invitation to Daphne to attend an upcoming party exclusively for women, which Daphne graciously accepted.

Their peaceful gathering was abruptly interrupted by the arrival of the disgraced Featherington family. Lady Featherington was shunned by all and ultimately forced to leave in disgrace. Later that evening, Daphne made her way to the Featherington household to speak with Marina. She apologized to the young woman, understanding the reasons behind her deception of Colin.

Turning her attention to George, Daphne resolved to help him rectify his "crime" of neglecting to respond to letters and leaving her pregnant. She intended to contact the General and inquire about his whereabouts. Meanwhile, Lord Featherington approached Will with a proposition: to throw his next fight, which would ensure a lucrative future for both of them.

Daphne then arrived at Lady Danbury's den of iniquity, where she embarked on a gambling spree with the others. Elsewhere, Simon and Anthony sat together with the other men, engaging in civilized drinking. The juxtaposition between their civilized conversation and the chaos of the gambling den reminded Daphne of scenes from Titanic, where Jack and Rose danced freely in the third class while the snobbish first-class patrons discussed business with disdain.

Eventually, the tension between Simon and Anthony boiled over into a violent altercation. The sensitive subject of Simon's father was brought to the fore, igniting a skirmish that spilled across the room and destroyed a glass table. Their venomous words were enough to spark a reaction from the others, who intervened to separate them and restore order.

Back at his abode, Simon diligently patched up his wounds, the air heavy with silence until Daphne arrived to greet him. Finally, the two found the courage to speak their minds, with Simon baring his soul and revealing the truth about his father's dying promise. Fueled by hatred, he was determined to fulfill it, leaving Daphne to walk away with a heavy heart.

Meanwhile, Eloise and Pen were busy sleuthing, narrowing down the list of suspects for the mysterious identity of Lady Whistledown. They quickly dismissed the possibility of a servant being the culprit, but the true identity remained a baffling mystery.

Dressed to the nines, Eloise ventured out to the Ball that evening, surrounded by the usual suspects. There, Benedict took Henry aside, offering words of encouragement about courage and the freedom of living beyond society's constraints. It was a revelation that left Henry deep in thought as they rejoined the festivities.

Elsewhere, Queen Charlotte had assembled her own team of investigators to unmask Lady Whistledown and silence the gossip. Eloise, disheartened to be sidelined from the investigation, stumbled into Benedict's path unexpectedly. He escorted her outside, and on their way, they encountered Genevieve Delacroix. As they sat together, Eloise harbored a suspicion that Genevieve might actually be Lady Whistledown.

Meanwhile, Marina, in a fit of desperation, resorted to self-medication, attempting to terminate her pregnancy. Daphne, meanwhile, excused herself from the concert, startled by a sudden flow of blood. Her mother rushed to her side, comforting her daughter, who was relieved to learn that she was not pregnant after all.
