Episode 4 of Alice in Borderland Season 2 kicks off right back where we left off—inside the prison walls. Chishiya stands solitary yet determined, manipulating Matsushita, the emo-kid, into believing that Sunato Banda, his constant companion throughout the game, is a serial killer whose infamy once splashed across newspapers. Convinced that Banda embodies the Jack, Chishiya warns of his impending aggression. A cautious pact is forged between them, wherein they agree to disclose their respective symbols, but unfortunately, Matsushita deceives Chishiya about his symbol.
Elsewhere, Yaba and the demure Kotoko remain aligned. Kotoko ventures down to the kitchen in search of sustenance, while Chishiya attempts to engage her in conversation, albeit unsuccessfully. Time ticks away relentlessly, and with Chishiya isolated, uncertainty clouds his next move. Both Kotoko and Matsushita perpetuate lies, deceiving Yaba and Banda respectively. As the countdown approaches its final 90 seconds, Chishiya faces a 50/50 guess regarding his symbol.
The round concludes amidst tension, with Matsushita emerging from his cell with a sinister grin, followed shortly by Banda's unexpected appearance. Yaba surfaces too, having narrowly escaped elimination. The realization dawns upon them that Kotoko has fallen, her betrayal by Matsushita—revealed to be the Jack of Hearts—becoming apparent. Their clandestine communication via snack packaging colors, a clever game strategy until now, is uncovered.
The Jack of Hearts' continued existence serves a grim purpose: extracting answers to unravel the ongoing mystery. Banda and Yaba, armed with a razorblade, exact their revenge, culminating in the Jack of Hearts' blimp exploding, while Chishiya narrowly escapes unscathed.
Meanwhile, Arisu and his companions strategize for the next offensive. With the Jack of Hearts and the King of Clubs vanquished, Kuina departs to search for Ann and Chishiya, recognizing the necessity of every available ally to confront the King of Spades. Arisu and Usagi find themselves in solitude, embarking on a hunting expedition as a much-needed respite from recent turmoil. Their attempt to catch a rabbit falls flat, but this detour leads them into a darker narrative. Emerging from the clearing, they stumble upon a grim scene: numerous corpses strewn across the ground, with a single survivor leaning against an RV, whispering, "Film…" before expiring.
Inside the recreational vehicle, a film projector resides, and the duo presses play, witnessing Kaito—the individual outdoors—capture and document the city's unfolding events. As Kaito's lens tracks Ann in the waters, she observes that vegetation becomes increasingly untamed as they venture farther from urban confines.
Meanwhile, Kaito pursues a clue and arrives at a nearby community, just beyond the city limits. One male resident mentions fireworks lighting up the sky on their arrival day. A woman from the community vividly recalls that fateful day, describing the fireworks as brilliant and realistic—only to reveal that they were, in truth, anything but fireworks. Suddenly, chaos erupts as the King of Spades descends, wreaking havoc and massacring the entire settlement.
Switching to the present, the King of Spades pursues Arisu and Usagi, his airship looming ominously overhead. In the turmoil that follows, Arisu and Usagi are torn apart, ultimately leading Arisu to a confrontation with their nemesis. Just as things seem desperate, bullets rain down from another direction, striking the Boss. However, as Arisu flees, he stumbles straight into an unknown figure who renders him unconscious.
Upon awakening, Arisu discovers himself in a camp, tended to by a woman with one leg visible and another shrouded in darkness. This mysterious pair has brought him to their sanctuary. As Arisu navigates through the clearing, he encounters an unexpected sight—Aguni!
