American Horror Story: Delicate - Episode 7 unfurls in the lands of Western Europe, in the year 42 AD. A woman, her hands stained with the crimson tide of her own blood, stands within a barn, her knife a vessel of both agony and triumph as she gives birth to twins. The half-formed infant claws its way out of her womb, and she embraces them both with joy before her life slips away. Later, a figure in black arrives, a whisper of mystery, and resurrects her. She is Ivy, and the tale begins anew.
In Brooklyn, 2013, Dex marks his wedding anniversary with his first wife, a celebration marred by the gift of a puppy that she is not too enthusiastic about. She insists they are not ready for a dog, nor does she know if she wants children. As she works at her restaurant, preparing her staff for the day ahead, she spots a figure in black outside. After closing, she locks herself in a room and retreats to a secret chamber where she has set up her own altar and rituals. Her sister, Sonja, awaits her there, and the two engage in a game of knife-play that ends with Addie stabbing herself and passing out.
Flashbacks take us to Galway, Ireland, 1253. Addie confronts her mother, Ivy, about her lies and the supposed "good" they are keeping for her. Ivy tells her that as women, they cannot create anything but can choose to be happy or reveal the truth. She apologizes for hurting Addie and gives her and her twin, Sonja, matching marks that bind them together forever.
Back in Brooklyn, 2013, Addie is at home with Dex, who is suspicious of what has happened to her and speaks to Talia about it. He also talks to his father who claims his wife is crazy and hangs up on him. Dex's mother disagrees and is shouted at by Dex, who tells her not to go against him. The father reveals he's cutting Dex and his wife off and also tells his wife not to contradict him before he chloroforms her. Later on, Addie buys jewelry with Talia who reveals she sold her business for a billion dollars and plans to invest it in Dex's gallery to give them a lifeline now that they've been cut off.
At Hestia, Nicolette visits Addie and tries to persuade her to come back. She reveals her teeth for what seems to be some sort of creatures that the women give birth to. Nicolette departs, and later on, Addie buys a pregnancy test that comes back positive—a lie she tells Dex.
Dex and Addie dined with Talia and her partner, celebrating the new gallery's opening, and snapped a group photo that would haunt Addie's mind later. As the night drew to a close, Addie, spotting her mother in the background of the photos, was struck with a sense of dread. Once everyone had left, she confessed her love for Dex, urging him to leave so she could compose herself in private.
Back at home, Dex's instincts led him to the pregnancy test, a chilling reminder of Addie's unspoken truth. He tried reaching her on her phone but was met only with her automated voicemail. Seeking answers, he turned to his parents' home, only to find them entangled in a sinister scenario: his mother drugged and his father engaging in a lewd act with one of the black-clothed figures.
The figures soon turned their attention to Dex, drugging him as well, while his father's desperation for a new life demanded that their shared past be erased from his memory. The episode ends with a shocking revelation: Talia, in her black cloak, stands as the mastermind behind it all, planning to pair Dex with his future bride who will bear the "purest" of all.
As Addie is restrained by her mother, sister, and Nicolette, Ivy cuts her open, the women dabbing themselves in her blood before setting her ablaze and leaving her for dead. The air thickens with mystery and horror as the final scene fades into darkness.
