As the second episode of Barry's fourth season unfolds, Barry is haunted by vivid visions of his childhood. We witness the pivotal moment when his father first introduced him to Fuches, who seemed like the epitome of a fun, loving uncle. However, Fuches now has a change of heart and approaches the FBI agents, informing them that he wishes to rescind the deal. He sees this as his golden opportunity to reclaim the role of a father figure in Barry's life.

Barry – Season 4 Episode 2 1

Fuches has enlisted the help of Gale Winograde, a renowned criminal lawyer with a stellar track record of saving individuals like Barry and himself. Introducing himself as The Raven to the inmates watching television, Fuches attempts to recruit two prisoners and inquiries about Barry's progress. Barry offers him comfort, and Fuches reveals his plan to hire Gale.

Meanwhile, Cristobal visits Bong, a powerful Chinese crime boss specializing in smuggling operations. He proposes a lucrative business deal, but Bong hesitates due to his discomfort with the Guatemalans involved, as they have a strained relationship with the Chinese. In a comically chaotic scene, Cristobal and Hank manage to bring both factions together in an arcade gaming corner. They take turns pitching the business opportunity, highlighting the benefits of collaboration and even citing the example of Bolivians and Chechens putting their differences aside to work together.

Hank has reached out to Toro, planning to orchestrate Barry's escape from prison. Lon, on the other hand, discovers a cryptic note directing him to follow a series of clues to "uncover the story of his life." The culprit behind these notes is revealed to be Gene, as Lon catches him struggling to attach the next note to a parking meter. Gene summons Lon to the theater, where he teaches acting.

Sally unexpectedly visits Barry in prison. She wants to discuss meeting her parents, and Barry apologizes profusely for betraying her trust and putting her in this precarious position. Sally reveals that he made her "feel like a human being" and helped her regain her footing in life. As she expresses feeling safe with him, Barry, filled with emotion, stands up and confesses his love to Sally, but she leaves without responding.

While Cristobal is delivering a speech to a room filled with Chinese and Guatemalan associates, promoting a legitimate business venture, Hank interrupts with plans to break Barry out of prison. This leads to a heated altercation between the two partners. In his mind, Barry envisions growing old with Sally, leading a serene and loving life together. To everyone's astonishment, he decides to accept the deal that Fuches had initially been offered, walking into the FBI's arms.

Barry presents the intricate web of LA's gangland, encompassing even the formidable Chechens, and pleads to bring "somebody" along with him. Sally suffers a crushing blow when Lindsay relinquishes her as an agent, her departure tinged with sincerity as she evaluates Sally's predicament. In contrast, Sally has borne the brunt of public scorn for acknowledging Barry at the award ceremony. Her future might shine brighter in the realm of reality TV or podcasts, but it dims in the genuine dramatic sphere she has relentlessly pursued.

Gene narrates the saga of Barry Berkman to Lon, casting it as a self-crafted theatrical piece that captivates Lon profoundly. Gene strives for authenticity to the utmost, yet his ego inflates, glorifying his own role while portraying Barry as desperate and repellent. Lon, captivated, agrees to publish the narrative, crediting Gene as an anonymous source. Sally confronts Gene at the theater, demanding to know why he kept her in the dark. He deflects the accusations, retaliating by pointing out her own complicity in staying with Barry despite witnessing his alarming violent tendencies, which she indeed did but failed to address. She concedes the point, and Gene suggests she embark on a new path, teaching acting, much like he did when his acting career came to a close.

Gale reassures Fuches of their impending escape, leveraging his "unique" legal prowess. However, when Fuches visits Barry to relay this, he discovers that Barry has accepted the FBI's deal. Hank stands up for Barry against Cristobal, insisting that he "finally understands Barry." Fuches informs Hank of these developments, prompting Hank to declare to Cristobal, "We must eliminate Barry."
