In a state of deep sedation, Barry unburdens himself to Jim, confessing that he bestowed $250,000 upon Gene. His words are slurred, his apologies flowing freely and unfocused, addressed to anyone and everyone within his hallucinatory realm—an apology that is perhaps overdue. Yet, Jim's wheels begin to turn.

Barry – Season 4 Episode 7 1

Gene, meantime, engages in an animated discourse with Tom, lambasting the big studios for "selling themselves short" just to get a piece of Barry's narrative pie. He emphasizes once more his reluctance to align with them. Elsewhere, Hank has assembled a fearsome quartet known as the Four Ultimate Badass Killers (FUBKs), tasking them with eliminating Fuches. The anticipation is palpable; these are supposed to be the elite, the meticulous, the deadly.

But a startling twist unfolds: Fuches himself presents their defeated leaders, packed neatly in four grim delivery boxes. Hank, undeterred, resolves to take matters into his own hands and devises a personal assault plan.

Gene's phone buzzes, and Matt Iserson, an agent purporting to represent the legendary Daniel Day-Lewis, is on the line. A living icon, albeit retired since 2017, his name alone sends Gene scampering to meet Iserson. His hypocrisy is momentarily outstripped by the allure of being portrayed on screen by the greatest actor of his time. As if on cue, Sally calls, catching Gene off guard. Her request for a lift from the airport, accompanied by John, places him in a dilemma.

Gene, however, quickly rearranges things, urging Sally to come to his house instead, promising to join her shortly. Meanwhile, Fuches' men tidy up the grisly aftermath, and, in light of his recent transformations, Fuches and his associates confront the woman and her daughter, whom he had brought back from the coffee shop with unexpected gentleness. The gravity of the violence leaves them utterly stunned.

Fuches' gang engages in a disheartening debate over strategies to avert a recurrence of such incidents, ultimately converging on a grim decision: treating their adversaries to a fateful "delightful dinner." As they depart, Hank stealthily positions a rocket launcher, aiming it at their abode. However, the rocket veers off course, its trajectory curves away from its intended prey. With only a solitary rocket in their arsenal, Hank's associates' attempt fails, and Fuches' gang catches a hint of Hank's presence. They unleash a relentless spree of bullets, converging on him from every angle, their ferocity and persistence showcasing the formidable gang that Fuches now leads. In the chaos, Hank's driver falls victim to their ruthless assault, while Hank narrowly escapes by tumbling down a steep hill.

Elsewhere, Iserson informs Gene that Matt Wahlberg expresses a desire to join the cast, eyeing the role of Barry, albeit reluctantly at the prospect of portraying a villain. Gene springs to action, passionately advocating for Barry, whom he portrays as a "father figure" to Barry, and someone for whom "pleasing him was a paramount endeavor." He characterizes Barry as a "compassionate soul," a depiction that persuades Iserson to facilitate a meeting with Wahlberg. Meanwhile, Barry narrowly squeezes out of a tight spot, seizing the moment when Jim is away.

As Barry attempts to prize open the door with a knife, he receives a deep gash that sends blood gushing forth in torrents, ultimately causing him to faint in the midst of the kitchen. In response to this unforeseen turn, Hank reluctantly decides to hand Barry over to Fuches, instructing Val to abduct Gene, who holds the key to Barry's whereabouts. Yet, when they arrive, Gene is nowhere to be found; instead, Sally and John greet them. Sally experiences a sudden realization, deciding to surrender herself and entrust John to the authorities. Spotting a policeman nearby, she approaches him, but her resolve falters as she notices blood oozing from the officer's eye, hinting at the peril she might pose to him by proceeding. The officer departs, only for Hank's henchmen to arrive and seize both Sally and John.

To Gene's astonishment, Jim has set an ambush for him. Inside the room where Leo, Gene's son, and the District Attorney await with the police, the revelation unfolds that Iserson is a fiction, a mere alias for Brad. Jim has uncovered the mystery behind the $250,000 cash – the cabin where Gene shot Leo was purchased with this money, originally belonging to a Chechen gangster whom Barry had stolen from.

The DA suspects Gene of shooting Leo upon discovering that the cabin was funded with Chechen drug money, a notion echoed by Leo. Jim perceives Gene's shift in demeanor towards Iserson as proof of his deceptive charade. They accuse Gene of manipulating Barry into murdering Janice, who had eliminated a Chechen gangster on the premises of her acting classes. Additionally, Gene was discovered with Janice's body alongside another Chechen gangster, The Raven.

For Gene, this grim reality has descended upon him like the walls of fate crashing down on a desperate follower. Hank phones Barry using Sally's mobile, urging them to cry out for help, but instead, Barry is summoned to a specific address.
