Episode 5 of "Beauty in Black" kicks off with a dramatic scene as Kimmie reappears at the motel, visibly battered and bruised by the women from the club. She's roughly shoved into the trunk of a car and whisked away to Roy's place, where an unexpected turn of events unfolds.
Upon her arrival, Roy inexplicably unburdens himself to Kimmie, confiding in her about his troubles. Yet, his words are tinged with venom as he berates her incessantly, mocking her intelligence by suggesting she's incapable of phoning his wife using the simple phrase "call my wife." Surprisingly, Roy eventually lets her go without inflicting further harm.
Elsewhere, Norman and Jules delve into the hit-and-run involving Ina, with Norman pledging to uncover the truth despite his evident withholding of crucial information. He casually mentions a triple homicide, a detail that presumably would have made headlines, before Jules rushes off to consult Horace.
Jules confesses to Horace that Roy was behind the hit-and-run. Despite all cameras having been tampered with, there's a glimmer of hope that Ina might remember the incident if she regains consciousness. Horace grapples with the decision to pull the plug on Ina permanently, weighing his hatred for his children against the potential consequences. Ultimately, he chooses to call in favors to orchestrate a cover-up.
That night, a mysterious woman posing as a nurse slips into Ina's room, offering Norman a bed to rest. His suspicion piqued when none of the hospital staff acknowledges the existence of this so-called nurse, it becomes clear that Horace is pulling strings behind the scenes. Norman's curiosity turns into outright skepticism.
Back at the motel, Kimmie's ordeal isn't over yet. Yolanda, Angel's fiery partner, storms in with her brothers, reducing Angel's car to smithereens. Believing Angel is hiding in the room with Kimmie, they warn him to steer clear.
In a moment of desperation, Kimmie and Angel hatch a plan to rob Horace's mansion. However, their scheme is thrown into disarray at the club when Jules contemplates replacing Body with Kimmie, a decision that puzzles everyone given the circumstances.
It transpires that Varney and Charles share a clandestine liaison, shedding light on his prior rejection of Mallory's romantic overtures. Varney urges Charles to pull himself together and concentrate, emphasizing that he is loath to relinquish their family as a client. For the time being, they intend to keep their affair concealed from the world.
Meanwhile, the friction between Roy and Mallory intensifies, pushing their relationship to the brink of collapse. Speaking of fragile states, Norman encounters a grim revelation when a professional nurse arrives in the morning. Tragically, Ina's condition has worsened; she now suffers from severe intracranial bleeding, with life-support machines her sole lifeline.
Convinced that Horace is behind Ina's deterioration, Norman places a call to him, vowing to eliminate both of his sons.
