Switching to the present, Kazu extends a heartfelt apology for his absence, though he refrains from elaborating on the reasons behind it. Saeko, though slightly disappointed, acknowledges his apology. He subtly reminds her of Yusuke (without mentioning his name) and clarifies that he held a unique place in her heart, as the love of her life.

Saeko expresses her reluctance to fall for Kazu, citing their incompatibility and the potential complications it could bring. To preempt such entanglements, she briefly considers taking different trains to avoid each other but decides instead, at her own discretion, to maintain a polite distance. Given Kazu's marital status, this arrangement seems prudent.

Kazu unburdens himself to Miki, expressing his apprehension about the possibility of harboring memories belonging to someone else within his mind. The amalgamation of these foreign memories with his own troubles him deeply. Miki struggles to contain her tears as they converse, her heart aching for the man she loves who is enduring this ordeal.

The night sky ignites with a dazzling fireworks display, drawing Saeko and Kazu closer in spirit despite the physical distance between them. They find themselves collectively reminiscing about the fateful night when Saeko and Yusuke's paths diverged. Meanwhile, Miki grapples with a profound question: could the donor’s heart still harbor feelings for another, causing her more pain than she dares to admit?

Recall the quaint cafe that underwent a transformation within the school premises? It’s here that fate orchestrates another encounter between Saeko and Kazu. The巧合 of their paths crossing again in this very spot adds an eerie twist to their narrative. As they sit sipping coffee, Kazu delicately broaches the topic of Yusuke, inquiring about his character. Their conversation, however, remains fleeting, as Saeko interrupts to introduce Shinoda to inspect the PROBAT machine they’ve discovered.

In the midst of their stay in Hokkaido, a formidable typhoon looms on the horizon, causing the cessation of all train services. Consequently, Kazu finds himself compelled to remain at the school, alongside Saeko. As he scans the CCTV footage, his eyes catch sight of her, braving the relentless downpour outside. Without hesitation, he dashes out to locate her, grasping her hand firmly and escorting her back to the school's shelter, where they can await the storm's subsidence together.

Once they've dried off and settled, Saeko's gaze falls upon the prominent scar adorning Kazu's chest, yet he remains oblivious to her discovery. United by necessity, they proceed to ensure the children are nourished and prepared for a restful slumber until the typhoon's fury has耗散. Meanwhile, Shinoda remains engrossed in mending a machine, his focus unwavering.

Elsewhere, Miki finds herself consumed by anxiety, pondering the wellbeing of her husband. Little does she know, he is thriving, having stumbled upon Saeko in the library, nestled amidst books detailing the intricacies of coffee. Upon awakening, Kazu shares with her a heartfelt sentiment: the world is imbued with greater brightness and joy solely because of her presence. Recognizing it as the same sentiment Yusuke once whispered to her, Saeko acknowledges the echo of his words within Kazu's. And, on the occasion of her birthday, he insists that they should celebrate the fact that she is here, among them.
