Beyond Goodbye – Season 1 Episode 5 1

Curiosity piqued, Kazu dives into social media to search for Yusuke. He unearths news articles about a fatal accident and starts connecting the dots, realizing with a start that the heart pulsating within his chest once belonged to Yusuke. It's a revelation that strikes him just as Saeko arrives at the scene, flowers in hand, to pay her respects to Yusuke.

Saeko's world spins when she learns that Yusuke's heart now beats within Kazuma. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Kazu finds himself unable to fully express his thankfulness to the deceased. He assures Saeko that he is content with his current family, though his words ring hollow to her, given his reluctance to discuss them.

The pair, having memorized each other's letters, grasp the reality of their intertwined fate. Saeko and Kazu see their encounter as destiny's gentle nudge, and Kazu is filled with joy at the prospect of seeing her again. Saeko, however, grapples with this intricate puzzle, eventually showing Kazu photos of Yusuke on her phone.

Kazu opens up about his experiences, how Yusuke's memories have become intertwined with his own—memories of playing the piano in Hawaii, and fleeting visions of an avalanche. As they sit in companionable silence, Saeko longs to hear Yusuke's heartbeat and leans her head on Kazu's chest, her sobs echoing in the room.

Their bond deepens as the café at the school becomes a bustling hub, a hit among students. Inevitably, Saeko and Kazu find themselves spending more time together. While Saeko views this as a chance to rekindle her past with Yusuke, Kengo voices his concern, warning her that Kazuma is not Yusuke. His words fall on deaf ears, and Saeko walks away, unwilling to heed his caution.

Ironically, Kazu unexpectedly materializes at the cafe, an air of familiarity enveloping him as he confesses a haunting sensation of having been there before. A surprising twist unfolds when Kazu acknowledges Kengo's presence, yet is plagued by the notion that he's inadvertently complicating matters for everyone around him. That very evening, fate orchestrates an encounter between him and Saeko at the station. Despite his attempts to lighten her spirits with humor, Kazu perceives the depth of her pain. Driven by an urge to alleviate her suffering, he takes a bold step forward, enveloping her in a tender embrace. The camera, with a deft sweep, descends to reveal Kazuma's wedding ring, a silent witness to their intimate moment of comfort and solace.

Kazuma's emotions are a tumultuous sea, with self-doubt casting shadows over his heart. Confounded by his own feelings and the entanglement with Yusuke's affection, he wades through a maze of confusion, unable to discern the true path of his love. Torn between decisions, he concludes that he cannot continue on this uncertain path indefinitely. And at the train station, fate may have already sealed his fate, as Miki stands waiting, a figure that could steer his life in a new direction.
