Black Rabbit – Season 1 Episode 7 1

Fast-forwarding to the present, the police descend upon the scene, bombarding everyone with questions. Jake, still reeling from the shock, attempts to provide a vague description of Vince, his mind a whirlwind of confusion and fear. Vince, meanwhile, contacts Jake from a burner phone, sending Jake into a panic that doesn't escape Roxie's keen eye. Despite Vince's revelation that Junior had kidnapped him, Jake, furious and fraught with emotion, declares he's done with Vince's chaotic world. Yet, he reluctantly agrees to assist in safeguarding Gen from Mancuso's clutches.

Jake, visibly rattled, urges Val and Hunter to leave, insisting they take Gen with them. However, once Jake departs, Gen, embodying a defiance reminiscent of her father, refuses to flee and parts ways with Val.

Subsequently, Jake seeks Campbell's counsel, frantically arguing that Jules's secret could be exposed if anyone talks. Campbell, ever the strategist, points out the grim reality: if Vince is apprehended, Jake's complicity will be laid bare. Their sole recourse, as grim as it sounds, is for Mancuso to eliminate Vince. Jake's hasty retreat from the crime scene also casts suspicion upon him. Campbell advises him to pay Tony and Wes a visit at the hospital, a suggestion Jake follows with a heavy heart.

Meanwhile, Seung approaches Mancuso, seeking answers, and is overwhelmed with grief upon learning of Junior's demise. Her mind races with questions, particularly whether Anna is somehow entangled in this web of deceit and violence.

Another flashback unveils Sheila's desperate plea to Mancuso, seeking his aid in concealing Dick's murder. Mancuso, unflinching in his honesty, lays down the law: Vince must forever guard the truth, keeping it even from Jake's ears.

At present, Vince seeks Mattie's assistance with the fence-related predicament. Mattie, however, turns him down and issues a stern warning: if Junior catches wind of the murder, he'll hand Vince over to Mancuso without a second thought. Vince, stubborn as ever, pays no heed and decides to face the situation solo.

Mancuso, driven by a thirst for vengeance, first crosses paths with Babbitt. Babbitt, weaving a web of deceit, concocts a false motive for the robbery, insisting that Junior merely aimed to prove his mettle to Mancuso. This tale of false loyalty tugs at the grieving father's heartstrings. With Mancuso's focus diverted from Babbitt, they join forces in a bid to unmask the true killer.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Roxie publicly confronts Jake, her questions sharp as knives. She demands to know whom he called, where he fled to, and why he erased the CCTV footage. Jake, caught off guard, stammers incoherently until Seung steps in to his rescue—only to pose the very same inquiries. Seung, armed with the charred note bearing the safe's code, presses on. Inspired by Estelle's tears over Wes, Jake attempts to play the victim card, expressing concern for his friends. But Seung is not easily swayed, questioning why he'd fight so fiercely for a counterfeit watch. Jake, with a glimmer of sincerity, reveals it was a gift from his late father.

In the midst of this chaos, Mancuso arrives at the fence's lair. Vince, seizing the moment, grabs as much cash as he can carry and makes a desperate dash for freedom. It's a near miss, but he manages to escape. Alas, Babbitt, sensing an opportunity, takes Gen hostage.

After Seung departs, Estelle breaks the devastating news to Jake: Wes is dead. Overwhelmed by guilt and shock, Jake crumbles under the weight of his emotions. Estelle, sensing there's more to the story, pleads with him to come clean. Her heart aches as she realizes Jake has chosen Gen over her.

Just then, Gen calls, her voice laced with regret for not leaving with Val. Babbitt, seizing the phone, issues a chilling ultimatum to Jake: find Vince, or face the consequences.

At the police precinct, Seung carefully retrieves evidence pertaining to Anna's case. It turns out that Junior had indeed left Vince's watch behind at her residence. As Seung examines it, he notes with a startling realization that it's an exact replica of Jake's timepiece, leading him to suspect Vince's involvement in the unfolding mystery. Meanwhile, as Vince dashes away in a hurry, his eyes catch sight of the breaking news flashing across a screen - the report of Wes's tragic demise. A look of profound distress clouds his face.
