Bloody Flower – K-drama Episode 2 1

The fickle public quickly shifts from blaming the cops to demanding a death penalty for Woo-gyeom. Prosecutor Cha's game plan is to prove that Woo-gyeom's motives are not altruistic but psychopathic, premeditated, and vengeful. Her first target is the hit-and-run driver who put him in a coma. And if he was simply taking a clinical approach, he wouldn't have tortured and brutally butchered his victims.

Throughout the entire scene, Woo-gyeom laughs and scoffs, earning him no sympathy from the court. As a last-ditch effort, Han-jun declares that he will bring in six witnesses who have all been cured by Woo-gyeom. However, he's bluffing as he has found no one. To make matters worse, he believes that Woo-gyeom is a psychopath too, but the latter doesn't care. Woo-gyeom points out that if he wins, he will be able to cure Han-jun's sick daughter, Min-seo. But if he gets the death penalty...

Han-jun realizes he has no choice as Min-seo's condition continues to deteriorate, and his wife, Jae-hee, a doctor, believes that nothing much can be done for their daughter. He decides to manipulate public opinion by having Reporter Jo Woo-cheol trash the prosecution for disregarding medical advancement. The higher-ups are furious, but Prosecutor Cha isn't deterred.

Onto the witnesses, Sang-woo's mother refuses to testify out of fear of exposing her son. There's Oh Min-gyu, who has been cured of Batten disease, the same one that Min-seo suffers from, but no one can find him. Han-jun suggests submitting Woo-gyeom's research and is directed to a red notebook. But instead of finding it, he catches a boy filming Woo-gyeom's "clinic" on a dare.

Prosecutor Cha isn't sitting still either as she puts Woo-gyeom in isolation as a way to corner him. We see that the inmates have decided to target him. Prosecutor Cha also gets a search warrant for Reporter Jo on the grounds of defamation.

However, Han-jun ingeniously navigates his way out of the predicament and secures their files. Reporter Jo is curious about their beef, and Han-jun reveals that he was once Prosecutor Cha's teacher when she was a student. The situation seems to be looking up as his former junior, Min-gyeong, offers to join the team. As a people person, she effortlessly convinces Sang-woo's mother to testify. She also wins over Song Tae-jin, a survivor who was cured of blood cancer. However, both Sang-woo's mother and Tae-jin have received threatening letters from Woo-gyeom. Min-gyeong assures them of protection, but Han-jun is furious with Woo-gyeom's accidental sabotage. He orders the doctor to run all his ideas by him first, which doesn't sit well with Woo-gyeom.

At the next hearing, Sang-woo's mother testifies in Woo-gyeom's favor. But the victory is short-lived as Prosecutor Cha brings in a forensics expert who claims that Sang-woo didn't have polio but Segwa disease, which is curable. Song Tae-jin freaks out and refuses to testify. Prosecutor Cha convinces the judge to make him her witness, and it's all downhill from there. He reveals that he has relapsed and Woo-gyeom is a conman.

Han-jun is upset and tries to confront Tae-jin, which Cha notices. After the hearing, she approaches Tae-jin alone, and he reveals that he didn't believe Woo-gyeom had cured him. This is why he resumed his treatment and it's how he relapsed. Cha recalls Woo-gyeom warning her not to let Chang-se be operated on by anyone else, as it would interfere and ruin his treatment. This means Woo-gyeom isn't at fault here, but Tae-jin is.

Unaware of this revelation, Han-jun and Woo-gyeom argue and blame each other for the way the trial is going. Woo-gyeom insists that all he wants is to cure people, but Han-jun doesn't believe him. Finally, Woo-gyeom asks if Han-jun can handle his true motive.
