Episode 7 of "Bon Appétit, Your Majesty" opens with Ji-young elucidating the concept of a pressure cooker to her team of chefs. Drawing from her rich culinary experience, she emphasizes the importance of meticulous planning for all three rounds of the impending competition. For the third and final round, which demands a soup, she has her sights set on crafting ogolgye samgyetang—a dish featuring a stuffed chicken and broth meticulously prepared in a pressure cooker.
With a clear vision in mind, Ji-young enlists Yi Heon's assistance in tracking down Jang Yeong-sil (a nod to a renowned historical Korean engineer and innovator). Although the original figure is no longer around, his legacy lives on through his descendant, Jang Chun-saeng.
Yi Heon grants Ji-young permission to venture into town, accompanied by Song-jae, to meet with Chun-saeng and gather fresh ingredients for the competition. However, the sight of Ji-young and Song-jae setting off together stirs a sense of unease in Yi Heon. Unable to shake off his concerns, he soon joins them, disguised as a commoner, along with Gong-gil and a guard named Su-hyeok. In a strategic move, Yi Heon sends Song-jae back to the palace, where they, along with Yi Heon's father, inform the other ministers that the king is ailing.
Yet, the truth of the king's whereabouts and condition inevitably reaches Prince Jesan's ears. Sensing an opportunity in the perceived vulnerability, Jesan decides to put his covertly trained troops to the test. He issues a command to eliminate Ji-young.
Meanwhile, the traveling party finally arrives at Jang Chun-saeng's abode, where they attempt to pass Yi Heon off as Song-jae. However, Chun-saeng harbors a deep-seated resentment towards royals. In a bid to win him over, Ji-young shares a culinary tip that piques his interest and prompts him to listen to her proposal. Nevertheless, Chun-saeng remains skeptical, believing that royals tend to discard individuals once they've served their purpose, and thus, he steadfastly refuses to lend his aid.
In the serene confines of Jahongwon, Chu-wol finds herself in a pivotal exchange with Consort Kang, who imparts startling news about Gong-gil. She unveils the truth that Gong-gil is none other than the elder sibling of Ok-dan, the young girl whose untimely demise cast a shadow over Jahongwon. With a solemn air, Consort Kang urges Chu-wol to keep a watchful eye on Gong-gil, her words lingering in the air.
Meanwhile, back in the opulent palace, the culinary scene unfolds with a mix of tension and learning. The cooks gather around, observing Chef Maeng's rigorous instruction of Gil-geum in the art of onion chopping. His demands are so exacting that they push Gil-geum to the brink of tears. In a separate part of the palace, Ya Feixiu approaches Prince Jesan with a proposition for a trade, her eyes Shining with determination.
The day following their trials with Chun-saeng dawns with a gentle rain, inspiring Ji-young with a brilliant idea. With the enthusiastic assistance of Gong-gil and Yi Heon’s loyal guard, she sets up a makeshift kitchen right outside Chun-saeng’s abode, preparing dongnae pajeon—a dish renowned for its delectable taste when savored amidst raindrops.
The enticing aroma soon lures Chun-saeng outside, his senses immediately drawn to the familiar flavors of his Busan hometown. As he indulges in the meal, Ji-young seizes the moment to eloquently speak of the future admiration and gratitude people will harbor for his uncle, Jang Yeong-sil. Her impassioned words strike a chord, and Chun-saeng, moved, consents to collaborate on the pressure cooker project.
Gong-gil remains behind to lend a hand, while Ji-young, Yi Heon, and Su-hyeok embark on a quest to gather fresh ingredients from the lush countryside. Back at the palace, Ya Feixiu utilizes the chilli powder obtained from her trade with Prince Jesan to craft the inaugural dish for the upcoming competition.
In a clandestine meeting, Lord Sung confides in Yu Kun, hinting at the possibility that the competition might never come to fruition. He subtly warns that the chief royal cook is in peril. Tang Bailong, a Ming cook, eavesdrops on this conversation and later, donning a disguise, relays the information to Chef Eom and Chef Maeng. They, in turn, hurry to inform Chang-seon and Song-jae. Alarmed by the prospect of Ji-young facing imminent danger, Song-jae sets off without delay.
On the morning of the competition, Ji-young and Yi Heon return triumphantly to Chun-saeng’s house, laden with all the necessary ingredients. There, they discover that Chun-saeng has indeed completed his pressure cooker masterpiece. However, their joy is short-lived as Prince Jesan’s assassins encircle the house, their intentions ominous. Fortunately, Chun-saeng’s ingenious inventions provide an early warning, allowing them to brace for the impending confrontation.
A fierce brawl erupts, plunging everyone into chaos. Amidst the frenzy, Ji-young frantically searches but loses grip on the pressure cooker's lid. Chun-saeng, with a determined glint in his eyes, reassures her, "I'll make sure it reaches you right when you need it. Now, hurry and get away from here!"
The relentless assassins tail them closely, their footsteps echoing ominously. Just when all hope seems lost, Song-jae's timely arrival swings the tide in their favor, delivering them from the jaws of peril. However, in the heat of the escape, Ji-young sustains a grievous injury to her hand and succumbs to faintness.
Upon regaining consciousness, her first words are a resolute command: "We must hurry to the palace for the competition, regardless of my hand." Her unwavering determination stirs the hearts of those around her. Meanwhile, at the palace, Yu Kun and his companions grow restless, tapping their feet in anticipation. Tang Bailong, with a calm and collected demeanor, persuades them to bide their time for a few more precious hours.
And as the clock ticks away, Ji-young and her comrades finally make their grand entrance back at the palace, their arrival met with a mixture of relief and anticipation.
