The seventh episode of Boots kicks off with Maitra's wedding, where Sullivan serves as the best man and delivers a poignant speech on the delicate balance between being a lover and a warrior in the Marine Corps. This speech resonates deeply with him, causing a hallucination of Wilkinson, who accuses Sullivan of not truly understanding the depth of love. To make matters worse, Maitra reveals that he was the one who reported Wilkinson.

Back at the base, camouflage training commences. Jones continues to flirt with Cameron, causing him to panic. Ray falls ill due to Hicks' ill-advised DIY alcohol and is sent to the infirmary. Curious, Cameron delves into Jones' file and discovers that he sleepwalks. Not only does Jones tease Cameron about it, but he also steals Howitt's candy and gets away with it.
In the infirmary, Ray once again encounters Alice, the female recruit. They engage in a lively debate about mission versus passion. Alice joined the Marine Corps because she wanted to, and if she changes her mind, she'll leave. Ray is perplexed by this idea, insisting that one's mission cannot be altered.
With Ray out of commission, Cameron is paired up with Jones. Despite Jones' teasing, he reveals that he's gay like Cameron, and they quickly become friends and start gossiping. Jones believes that Sullivan wants Cameron to suffer like him, but Cameron disagrees. Instead, he envies Jones' confidence and advises him to treat life like a game and act like he belongs.
Santos sneaks out to call home and is caught. Howitt reprimands him but is moved when Santos explains his motive. With Ochoa's name kept secret, everyone assumes Santos is the recruit who died and he wants to assure his family.
During the shower, Jones teases Cameron, and that night, Cameron thinks Jones is leading him only to discover that he was merely sleepwalking. The next day, Sullivan becomes suspicious of Jones, but Howitt finds nothing wrong with him. Instead, he comments that Cameron won't make it through combat training. Sullivan vows to help him.
Ray awoke, rejuvenated, only to find Alice gone. The boys teased him as he insisted on his infatuation, unaware of the impending hand-to-hand combat training. Sullivan picked Cameron for "training," beating him soundly. The recruits paired off, and Cameron finally believed that Sullivan was picking on him. To make matters worse, Sullivan picked Jones to train, revealing his knowledge of Jones's desire to quit. Jones's sleeping disorder wasn't enough for Sullivan, who offered to help in exchange for Jones beating up Cameron. Jones relayed this to Cameron, assuring him they would work together.
In an attempt to be a better mentor, Howitt allowed Santos to call home. Fajardo informed Sullivan that Wilkinson had been arrested and charged. Drunk and rambling, he awoke the recruits, declaring they were warriors who would always have the last word, even if the real world tried to bring them down.
The next day, the recruits were to fight each other. As expected, Sullivan picked Jones to fight Cameron. Jones claimed they would pretend to fight and then tap out, but when they began, Jones brutally beat Cameron and called him a homophobic slur. Having had enough of everyone betraying him, Cameron exploded and took down Jones. Howitt tried to break them up, but Sullivan stopped him. By the time McKinnon stepped in, Jones was a bloody mess.
That night, Imaginary Cameron watched as Cameron checked his injuries. He looked tired as he claimed Cameron had finally become a warrior. Sullivan was back at the bar, drinking. He called Fajardo and asked if it was the tattoo that confirmed Wilkinson's sexuality. Fajardo promised to protect Sullivan and insisted his sexuality didn't matter. But Sullivan didn't seem to hear her; the matching tattoo meant he would be investigated next. He went back to drinking and was almost hit by a trucker's bumper, smiling before bashing his head in with a vicious grin.
