Published: Apr 01 2025

The episode unfolds eight months after its predecessor, kicking off with Honey Chandler (played by Mimi Rogers) delivering a fiery campaign speech on the grand steps of the courthouse. Meanwhile, Detective Jimmy Robertson (portrayed by Paul Calderon) convenes with Captain Rivera (David Grant Wright), District Attorney Emmett Archer (Jim Holmes), and Chief Hughes (Sophina Brown) in a hushed meeting. They assign him the sensitive task of probing into Harry Bosch's (Titus Welliver's character) actions to ascertain whether he orchestrated Preston Borders' (Chris Browning) murder of Kurt Dockweiler (Will Chase). Following the formal meeting, Robertson seeks a private audience with Rivera to delve deeper into the matter.

Elsewhere, Harry steps into a clandestine meeting with his prison contact to get the latest gossip from Wasco. His informant reveals that Dockweiler's connections remain untraceable. Offering to treat Harry to a beer, the contact is politely declined, with Harry urging him to stay in touch.

Elsewhere again, Jon (Rico Ross) and his spouse exit a festive dinner outing, only to be robbed moments after pulling into their driveway. Responding to the distressed call are Janet Vasquez (Sonia Iris Lozada) and Maddie Bosch (Madison Lintz). Vasquez interviews Jon while Maddie gently questions his wife.

Frank Sheehan (played by Jamie McShane) strolls into Honey's campaign headquarters, volunteering his services. When he finally secures a moment alone with her, he pleas for reinstatement of his old job, perhaps with a presidential pardon. Honey hesitates, prompting him to mention Michael Harris and the settlement she had secured for him. She firmly asserts that Michael was innocent, and he was subjected to torture to elicit a confession. She ultimately declines his plea, stating she is not accepting new cases. Frank reluctantly concedes defeat and departs.

Robertson and Perry Lopez, accompanied by Miles Gaston Villanueva, interrupt Bosch's lunch with Maddie, their presence adding an unexpected twist to the tranquil afternoon. As the encounter draws to a close, Maddie attempts to steer the conversation towards the Dockweiler saga, probing Bosch for his insights. He responds candidly, acknowledging his inaction but hinting at a hypothetical willingness to intervene if circumstances had permitted. As Bosch bids Maddie farewell, his phone buzzes with a call from Honey, catching his attention immediately.

Moments later, Honey fills Bosch in on her unexpected visitor, Frank, but their discussion is cut short by the urgent ringtone signaling another incoming call. This time, it's Maurice 'Mo' Bassi, whose voice crackles through the line. Upon learning that Harry is with Honey, Bosch swiftly puts the call on speakerphone. Mo reveals a startling detail: Frank has been a recurring presence at several of her events over the past two months.

Meanwhile, Maddie's supervisor provides her and her colleague with a detailed description of the getaway vehicle used in the night's robbery, setting the stage for an investigation. In parallel, Bosch visits Mrs. Sheehan, portrayed by Sara Arrington, seeking clarification on Frank's recent activities. She inquiries about Bosch's own visits to Frank during his incarceration, to which he replies with a resolute no. She mirrors his response, disclosing that she too had stayed away. Additionally, she shares that Frank had made a personal appearance at their home, nostalgia leading him to sift through relics of his past.

Elsewhere, Frank's solitary stroll through a park-like setting offers a fleeting glimpse into his world as Robertson and Perry engage in a crucial discussion with a prison representative about a mysterious Border phone call.

Concurrently, Honey and her team immerse themselves in campaign commercials, the lively atmosphere broken by Michelle Carter's urgent notification – her car alarm blaring unrelentingly. As Honey dashes out to silence the noise, she's confronted by a grim sight: her car window shattered, a brick lying inside with a chilling message – "Just the beginning," setting a sinister tone for what lies ahead.

Moments later, Honey engages Bosch and his team in a discussion about the incriminating brick. Bosch advises her, with the ambition of becoming a District Attorney in mind, that she must report the find and initiate collaboration with law enforcement. Meanwhile, fortune smiles upon Vasquez and Maddie at a gas station, where they come across a full license plate matching the description of the suspected robbery vehicle.

Bosch trails Frank to a hardware store, slips inside to observe his shopping habits, only to be inadvertently noticed. Their conversation, albeit brief, revolves around Honey's public denigration of Frank. Bosch sternly warns him to steer clear of Honey, to which Frank responds with bewilderment.

Elsewhere, Honey convenes with a circle of women, discussing strategies to rejuvenate support for victims and their families. Rivera, on the other hand, confers with two of his officers regarding a request from Honey's campaign team for police presence at their upcoming fundraiser. He directs them to forward the request to the Hollenbeck division, as it falls under their jurisdiction.

Robertson seeks Archer's assistance in securing a warrant for Border's prison burner phone, instructing him to present the case before Judge Simon Newland (played by Guy Garner). Concurrently, Bosch and Mo seize the opportunity to break into Frank's apartment while he is absent. Their search yields little of consequence, save for a rescue response manual. Unbeknownst to them, Frank visits a storage locker and embarks on an undisclosed project.

The phone technician informs Robertson and Perry that Borders has been placing calls to someone residing in the Hollywood Hills, a detail they swiftly relay to Archer. Meanwhile, Harry collaborates with a member of the local police department to orchestrate robust security arrangements for Honey's event.

As Honey delivers her inspiring speech, Bosch dials Barrel (Troy Evans) to inquire about Frank's whereabouts. Upon discovering that Frank remains at his residence, Bosch instructs Barrel to personally knock on his door. Just when Honey invites the Mayor to join her on stage, Barrel phones Harry with the urgent update that Frank is not home. In response, Harry directs Vasquez and Mo to reposition themselves, ensuring a comprehensive view of the entire courtyard.

Just as Honey engages with the audience once more, gunshots echo through the air, causing a chaotic dispersion of attendees. Bosch, recognizing the shots as a diversion, devises a strategy to corner Frank. His plan succeeds, and moments later, the two find themselves facing each other, weapons drawn.

Just as it seems Bosch is about to persuade Frank to stand down, Frank turns his gun on himself and takes his own life, bringing an abrupt and tragic end to the episode.
