DanDaDan – Season 2 Episode 1

Published: Jul 21 2025

Season 2 of DanDaDan kicks off precisely where the first left us, with Momo finding herself vulnerable in the scorching hot spring, compelled to repel five lecherous individuals. Yet, an unexpected savior emerges – none other than Turbo Granny! Amusingly enough, she had been lurking within Momo's backpack, keeping a discreet eye on her the entire time. With Turbo Granny's formidable abilities, the hot spring is soon reduced to ruins, prompting the authorities to arrive and scare off the guys, who are revealed to be members of the Kito family. However, Turbo Granny's keen observation doesn't stop at the hot spring; she also notes that Jiji's apartment isn't exactly spotless, marked by traces of "bloodstains" everywhere.

DanDaDan – Season 2 Episode 1 1

Meanwhile, Okarun and Jiji find themselves greeted by the Kito family, who aren't fond of deceit. Okarun narrowly escapes a dire situation by correctly guessing Jiji's favorite team, thanks to a poster's hint. However, Jiji isn't as fortunate. When he claims he's never had a girl over (despite Momo's recent visits), the Kito matriarch is less than pleased.

Elsewhere, Momo and Turbo Granny embark on a journey to the Shrine of the Giant Snake. Locals once revered this divine beast, believing it resided deep within a volcano. Whenever it felt hungry, it erupted, causing havoc. To safeguard their livelihoods and appease the beast, villagers decided to sacrifice one of their own to the mountain. Remarkably, there hasn't been a single eruption in 200 years. It seems that the mythical creature is merely a figment of man-made superstitions. But then again, this is DanDaDan, where anything can happen!

Upon returning to Jiji's, Momo is astounded to find the entire Kito family awaiting her presence. With Okarun and Jiji unconscious on the floor, Momo struggles to fend off the numerous adversaries. However, during a brief lull in the fray, the matriarch reveals to Momo that she's disrupting their festival plans and that they've been guarding this land for generations.

The Kito family is one of those who have been making offerings to the Great Serpent atop the volcano. The very spot they're standing in the house – specifically the dreary room Momo finds herself in, which we glimpsed Okarun and Jiji inspecting last season – is where sacrifices used to take place. For years, the Kito family has been inviting unsuspecting individuals into their home, only to sacrifice them to the volcano.

This is precisely what befell Jiji’s family, and unfortunately, it is also their intended fate for Momo. As the ground beneath Momo’s feet transforms into a treacherous quicksand, she struggles desperately to escape. Amidst this chaos, with the entire family engrossed in trying to rescue Momo, Jiji and Okarun leap into action, determined to save her from the clutches of the impending peril. Yet, the situation appears grim, as one by one, they all plunge into the belly of a menacing beast—metaphorically speaking, for the moment.

Jiji topples down and lands squarely upon what seems to be the colossal form of the Great Serpent. This monstrous creature stirs to life, turning its attention toward the group and emitting a thunderous roar that sends shivers down their spines. It transpires that the legend holds some truth, albeit in a peculiar twist. This beast is revealed to be a gigantic, man-devouring earthworm, bearing an uncanny resemblance to the one featured on the cover of Okarun’s magazines that he once shared with Momo during their school days in season 1.

For two centuries, the Kito family has been feeding this colossal worm, causing it to grow to proportions unprecedented in any known accounts. With resolve, the Kito family initiates a chant and embarks on a ritual, rendering them vulnerable and easy prey for the deadly worm to consume. With their comrades vanished, Jiji, Okarun, and Momo find themselves alone, confronted by this towering monstrosity. Will they emerge victorious in their battle against this giant adversary?
