The eighth episode of "Daredevil: Born Again" kicks off with an intense scene, depicting Bullseye, alias Poindexter, shackled in handcuffs, being transferred from solitary confinement to the general population wing of the prison. However, his arrival is far from welcomed by the inmates who eagerly await his presence, setting the stage for an impending confrontation.
Elsewhere, Fisk's Red Hook project appears poised for significant momentum. He expresses his gratitude to Vanessa for her tireless efforts and for maintaining the construction during his absence. Furthermore, Fisk is delighted that she has chosen to collaborate with him in eliminating Luca and consolidating their iron grip on the city.
Simultaneously, Heather grapples with the guilt of killing Muse. Matt attempts to reassure her, emphasizing that Daredevil saved her, but she remains unconvinced. She firmly believes she rescued herself, viewing Daredevil's actions as self-serving. A knock at the door abruptly terminates their conversation, revealing Buck's arrival to visit the troubled therapist.
Matt is taken aback to discover that Heather is the very therapist aiding Fisk. To his disbelief, she has also been invited to a gala celebrating the Red Hook Project. Despite Matt's earnest pleas, Heather insists on his attendance alongside her, a request he reluctantly concurs to.
At the office, Kirsten breaks the news about Poindexter's transfer, prompting Matt to seek further clarification. It transpires that Fisk orchestrated his move into the general population as a strategic maneuver.
Amidst these developments, Matt finds himself spiraling into a crisis of conscience. He laments their current predicament, likening their efforts to "babysitting chaos."
In a subsequent conversation with Cherry at the bar, Matt experiences an epiphany. He realizes that on the night Foggy was murdered, he was poised to triumph in his case against Dumb Benny. This revelation strikes him as evidence that Foggy's murder was premeditated, orchestrated by an unseen adversary.
Fisk leads Vanessa to Adam, where she bears witness to his plight, confined within a cage. Despite the gravity of the scene, Fisk finds it difficult to suppress his tears as he justifies his actions, claiming they are for their own benefit. One wonders if the emotional turmoil he experienced on that Native American reservation, coupled with his tears in Echo, has truly taken a toll on the Kingpin. In the end, Vanessa takes Adam's life, and Fisk solemnly vows never to abandon her again. Meanwhile, Fisk's Task Force tightens its grip on the city, with vigilantism decreasing by a remarkable 30% since their deployment. Despite this, the ACLU has filed a staggering 13 lawsuits against them for alleged excessive force.
In the aftermath of these developments, Fisk elevates Daniel Blake to the position of Deputy Mayor of Communications. He assigns Blake the crucial task of cultivating close ties with the City Council and steering them into their fold. On a separate note, Matt storms the prison to confront Bullseye, insisting on uncovering the truth. He is firmly convinced that Fisk hired Bullseye to eliminate Foggy and silence him, but Bullseye remains tight-lipped, neither confirming nor denying Matt's accusations. As Matt departs, Bullseye seizes the opportunity to slip away from the prison's confines.
As the chaos unfolds, the grand ceremonial occasion proceeds unabated, with the Task Force keeping a vigilant watch. Matt also makes his appearance, successfully pinpointing Kingpin amidst the hustle and bustle, only to be interrupted by Heather before he could confront the Mayor. She attempts to engage him in a conversation about his aloof demeanor, but Matt remains mostly oblivious to her words, distracted by Kingpin who is engrossed in a crucial discussion regarding the Red Hook project. With an air of menace, Kingpin coerces a City Council member to allocate additional funds and leverages the Task Force's influence to intimidate the press lurking around for a sensational scoop.
Among the reporters, BB stands out as one who seemingly evades notice. She corners Commissioner Gallo and grills him about the Task Force's activities. Gallo hastily disassociates himself from any responsibility, emphasizing that all this is Fisk's doing and he has no part in it. He further brings up Ben Urich and reveals that Fisk was the prime suspect in his murder. BB declares her intention to bring Fisk down and offers her card, signaling her resolve. However, the Task Force keeps a close eye on her every move.
As the dancing commences, Matt realizes that staying with Heather in this environment is perilous and devises a plan to extricate them both. Suddenly, the revelation dawns upon him that Bullseye has broken out of prison, and it is Vanessa who has orchestrated Foggy's demise throughout. He forcibly initiates a dance with her, and amidst their twirling, Bullseye emerges with a sniper rifle, perched precariously on the balcony, fully visible to everyone yet unnoticed by the numerous armed guards surrounding the room.
A gunshot echoes through the hall, and Matt takes the bullet meant for Fisk, shielding Heather in a desperate bid to protect her. Bullseye refrains from firing again, merely observing the aftermath with an eerie calm. Matt collapses to the ground, bleeding profusely, while Heather stands over him, the scene steeped in dramatic tension.
