The story unfolds in Medellín in 1989, where Lagaña and El Dorado escort Rodrigo to meet Pablo. Pablo addresses the betrayal of Angie towards Rodrigo and asserts his trust in Rodrigo.
Pablo enlists Rodrigo to embark on a journey to Cali, accompanied by a new nanny, to gather evidence against his enemies. At the airport, Juan attempts to reach out to Rodrigo, but Lagaña and El Dorado choose to keep the truth from him, forcing him to end the call as Rodrigo boards the plane. Rodrigo is given a drug to calm his nerves before departure.
Later in the day, Juan learns of the plane crash that claimed Rodrigo's life from the news. He confronts Lagaña and El Dorado about Pablo's involvement, accusing them of being cowards for harming innocent people, including Rodrigo. Juan refuses to return home with them and instead tries to move on by watching VHS recordings of himself with the nannies, especially Rodrigo.
Juan eventually meets with Pablo to discuss their lives and is advised to follow in his footsteps and make difficult decisions. However, Juan refuses, stating that he will never be like Pablo and calling him out for not being a proper parent.
Meanwhile, Lagaña plants a bomb at a bus stand, resulting in the death of 72 people and injuring many others. He is tracked down by the police the following year and takes his own life to avoid being sent to a US prison. El Dorado manages to evade the police during the crackdown.
Juan, now in Argentina under a new identity as Sebastian, reflects on the past and expresses concern that someone from his old life might find him. One day, he receives a call at his house, and the caller asks if he is Juan Pablo Escobar. Initially panicked, Juan eventually agrees to meet the caller in person.
The caller turns out to be Rodrigo, who reveals that he had to start a new life in Argentina like Juan. They discuss how their past continues to haunt them and Rodrigo advises Juan to look toward the future. The show ends with the real Juan Pablo Escobar enjoying a meal with his wife and son.
