Danny interrupts Rufus' investigation, presenting him with Kira's date book. Rufus notices a missing page and discovers a crucial note mentioning Opal Diner on February 12th, one month prior to her demise. Rufus and Danny make a beeline to the diner, where a staff member named Edgar recognizes Kira as a frequent visitor. Edgar recalls an instance where Kira got into a heated argument with someone, noting that her child was present at the diner that day.

The scene shifts to Rufus showing young Imogene his notes, written in code, and educating her on the primer required to decipher them. Fifteen years later, Rufus stumbles upon Viktor Sams' name in an unrelated case, only to be confronted by a furious Llewellyn, demanding him to stop harassing Lawrence. Imogene, now aware of Rufus' unwavering pursuit of Viktor Sams, confronts him, inquiring why he made her believe he had abandoned the case.

Back in 2005, the Colliers express dissatisfaction with Rufus' handling of Imogene's case, noting her persistent insomnia. They dismiss her talents, unlike Rufus, who holds them in high regard. Their words, however, serve as a catalyst for Rufus' departure, leaving Imogene with more questions than answers.

In the present moment, Imogene eagerly persuades Rufus to join her in her endeavor, seeking his assistance in piecing together the hazy events that transpired at the Opal Diner. Together, they delve into a memory that shows a younger Imogene and Kira seated at the diner, moments before Kira receives a fateful call. Initially, Imogene struggles to recall the specifics of what occurred, her mind clouded by forgotten details.

Within the memory, the older Imogene follows the younger version of herself to the Collier house, navigating through various rooms until they arrive at a suitcase. They sit facing each other, and the younger Imogene confesses that she made a promise never to reveal the identity of the person she had witnessed. Suddenly, the scene shifts, and they are standing out in the pouring rain. The older Imogene finds herself sitting beside her mother in a car, replaying the tragic moments before her mother's untimely demise. As the car explodes, the memory freezes, leaving Imogene shaken.

Rufus gently inquiries what Imogene fears most. She confesses that she is terrified of the realization that she witnessed Viktor Sams and had repressed the memory, allowing him to remain free. With renewed determination, Imogene allows herself to fully embrace the recollection. In the memory, young Imogene witnesses her mother engaged in a heated altercation with a woman who leaves her in tears. The woman is none other than Governor Alexandra.

Alexandra dismisses Kira's claims, stating that there is no case despite the deaths of five employees. Kira insists that she has a witness, but the older Imogene remains silent, her mind reeling from the revelation. Later, in the car, Imogene mentions seeing another woman with a distinct mole. Kira panics, urging Imogene to forget everything she has seen, burying the memories deep within her mind. This is the reason Imogene had repressed the memory; she had obeyed Kira's directive.

However, as the truth slowly dawns on her, Imogene approaches Celia Chun with renewed resolve. She confronts Celia in front of everyone, declaring that her mother was a whistleblower and that Celia was the crucial witness at the end of the story in Death and Other Details Episode 7. The scene is charged with tension as Imogene's words echo through the air, leaving everyone present stunned by the revelation.
