Episode 8 of "Death and Other Details" begins with Imogene confronting Celia Chen, demanding answers about her role as a witness for her mother. Just an hour prior, Celia finds herself lost in contemplation, staring at an aged photograph depicting a youthful couple. Eleanor arrives unexpectedly, suggesting that Anna should still ascend to the position of CEO. However, Celia's response is bleak, insisting that there would be nothing left worth inheriting. Suddenly, the ship is plunged into darkness as the power abruptly fails.

Elsewhere, Sunil desperately pleads with Rufus to set him free, but Rufus remains steadfast in his refusal. Imogene's arrival interrupts their exchange, bringing news that Anna has confessed to the factory debacle. Rufus's narration reveals a startling truth: Viktor Sams has been lurking on the boat throughout their ordeal.

Meanwhile, Teddy frantically scrambles to restore power, but she soon discovers that someone has hacked the system. In the midst of her desperation, she receives a letter left for her by Llewellyn Mathers. His words offer comfort, urging her not to blame herself for his actions. A flashback transports her back to a tender moment shared with Llewellyn, where he opens up about the loneliness of his profession.

Death and Other Details – Season 1 Episode 8 1

After Llewellyn's tragic death, Teddy finds solace in a conversation with Hilde, who confesses that she too had a intimate relationship with Llewellyn. Both women acknowledge their failure to recognize the warning signs that led to his fatal decision.

Currently, Anna relentlessly pesters Teddy about the matter of power, brutally informing her of Llewellyn's demise. As fate would have it, Anna crosses paths with Imogene, who urges her to disclose any knowledge she possesses about Viktor Sams. Imogene promptly heads to Llewellyn's chamber, conducting a thorough search alongside Rufus, unwittingly revisiting the moment when Rufus confessed the truth about his origins to her.

Meanwhile, Anna ventures into her parents' chamber, breaking the news of Llewellyn's passing. Lawrence remarks sarcastically that Llewellyn's only purpose was as insurance. Teddy's son, hidden in a shadowy corner, surreptitiously captures this conversation on his phone before sneaking away. Eleanor catches him in the act of recording his thoughts about the unfolding situation.

Elsewhere, Leila stumbles upon Tripp while searching for Anna. She reveals that she is aware of Anna and Eleanor's connection. Tripp assures her that Anna is still alive and advises her to cherish that fact. He wonders if Lawrence is orchestrating everything, but Leila assures him he is not.

In the confines of the brig, Jules manages to free himself using a key covertly provided by Imogene. Winnie pleads with him to liberate her as well, but he stubbornly refuses. As if fate is playing a cruel joke, Simon, Jules's colleague, enters the scene, and Jules locks him inside the prison instead.

Hilde summons everyone to the ship's Celestial Hall, declaring that she wants everyone contained until reinforcements arrive. Finally, Anna and Leila cross paths, and Anna declares her unwillingness to pursue a divorce. Leila guides them to join the Chuns in their seating.

Meanwhile, Teddy hides in a storeroom, sobbing uncontrollably over the loss of Llewellyn. Her gaze falls upon the head server meticulously placing corks from wine bottles into a box. Teddy's memory is jarred as she recalls Llewellyn enjoying a glass of wine before his untimely death. She frantically searches for the cork from that particular bottle and examines it closely, discovering a clean hole piercing straight through its center.

Teddy and Jules eventually find themselves in the chamber where Sunil is restrained, helplessly bound. Their suspicions are immediately aroused, suspecting that Sunil might be in cahoots with Sams. Teddy urgently declares that she must locate Rufus and inform him of Llewellyn's untimely demise, poisoned wine being the fatal culprit.

Meanwhile, in the corridor, Hilde confronts Lawrence, challenging his apparent indifference towards the ongoing investigation. She accuses him of already knowing the truth, given his lack of enthusiasm in the matter. Elsewhere, Jules frees Sunil from his bindings, but instead of searching for the generators as intended, he suggests they make their way to the mainland to seek assistance.

A fierce altercation erupts between the Colliers and the Chuns. Celia drops a bombshell, revealing to all that Anna is not the biological offspring of her father, a revelation she received from Toby. Katherine lashes out at Toby, but he insists that his son was threatened. Anna and Katherine engage in a heated argument, and it is revealed that Anna's true father is Llewellyn, albeit unbeknownst to him. Katherine argues passionately that, regardless of the circumstances, she has been the one holding the family together, and storms away in anger.

At this juncture, Imogene steps forward and confronts Celia. Celia confesses that she once went by a different name, a revelation that leads to a revealing flashback fifty years prior. The scene depicts a young girl working diligently in a factory in China, where she falls in love, marries, and gives birth to a daughter - Eleanor's mother. Ten years later, Collier Mills takes over, and the Captionem Blue wreaks havoc, causing Celia's husband to fall ill and eventually die. In exchange for her silence, Celia is paid a hefty sum, vowing to use the money to establish her own company. Two decades later, she crosses paths with Kira, and a new chapter in her life begins.

In the present moment, Imogene holds Lawrence accountable for Kira's demise, harboring a grudge against him due to their unresolved case. She approaches him on the deck, determined to confront him. However, to her surprise, he appears to mistake her for Kira. Anna, who follows closely behind, informs Imogene that Lawrence is afflicted with a dementia-like illness, casting doubt on his ability to commit the murders on the ship.

Imogene, determined to get to the bottom of things, approaches Lawrence again, this time posing as Kira. Lawrence lashes out at her, accusing her of prying into matters that are none of her business. He confesses to making a crucial phone call, a revelation that seems to confirm Anna's suspicions about his involvement in Kira's death.

Meanwhile, Rufus, Hilde, and Teddy interrogate the server, Hans, who admitted to serving Llewellyn the poisoned wine. He reveals that the bottle had been tampered with prior to delivery, and it was requested by a mysterious guest. Hilde searches the halls for Katherine Collier but finds no trace of her. Teddy informs Leila that they have discovered Ricin, a deadly poison, in Katherine's belongings, leading Leila to conclude that Katherine is, in fact, Viktor Sams.

Rufus stumbles upon Imogene, standing over Lawrence with a mixture of anger and sadness. She laments the fact that he is suffering from dementia and won't even be aware of the punishment he's receiving for Kira's murder. Suddenly, a scream from Anna ruptures the silence, drawing everyone to the poolside. Anna kneels beside a lifeless body - it's her mother! Just then, a helicopter arrives, but it's not Hilde's backup as everyone had hoped.

Elsewhere, Jules and Sunil are scrambling to find a way off the ship when they stumble upon a rigged bomb instead. On the deck, men from the helicopter board the ship and knock Hilde unconscious. The leader of the men announces that they have come to play a game, adding a chilling climax to the already tense events of Death and Other Details Episode 8.
