Episode 6 of "Dexter: Resurrection" kicks off with the heart-wrenching passing of Blessing's mother, followed by an afternoon wake that extends an invitation to Dexter. Unsure of the appropriate attire, Dexter finds himself in a bind until Harrison steps in with some stylish advice. Sensing the emotional turmoil funerals can evoke, especially given the lingering pain of Hannah's loss, Harrison decides to accompany his father for moral support.
Harrison is taken aback by how swiftly Dexter has forged some connections, albeit loosely termed as 'friends' in this context. Prudence, a cat lover thwarted by Blessing's allergy, had amassed an eclectic collection of feline memorabilia to adorn their home. In homage to her, the family decides that each attendee can take a keepsake after sharing a few words. When Dexter's turn arrives, he grapples for the right things to say but manages to pull it off with a charm that even includes a convincing faux tear for dramatic effect.
Meanwhile, Charley arrives at Red's apartment only to be greeted by an unsettling scene of mold and filth. Informing Leon of Red's absence, she sets off a chain of events that leads Leon to call Dexter, who expertly weaves a tale of anonymity and perpetual homelessness, seemingly convincing Leon. However, he's promptly instructed to visit Prater's place without delay.
At the precinct, Wallace interviews Marc, the unfortunate victim of Mia's sinister seduction from the previous episode. Marc reveals that Mia had told him he would be her "first kill in New York," a statement that raises immediate red flags. This revelation is enough to sway Wallace's suspicion away from Mia as their serial killer. The modus operandi differs, and crucially, there's no sign of a bone saw. To further solidify this theory, Angel Batista arrives in New York, bringing news about Dexter.
Batista nails the entire narrative flawlessly, meticulously piecing together even the detail of Dexter covering for Harrison. He harbors the intention of presenting Dexter's photograph to Mia, confident that her recognition of him would cement the theory that Mia could very well have been another of Dexter's intended victims.
Dexter eventually turns up at Prater's abode, but Gareth, the notorious Gemini Killer, harbors deep-seated mistrust in Mia's ability to keep her lips sealed. He's inclined towards drastic measures to ensure her silence, fearing the dire consequences that could ensue otherwise. Unperturbed, Prater reassures the group that his connections within law enforcement render such concerns moot.
As soon as they depart Prater's place with some extra cash, Dexter zeroes in on his next prey and begins trailing Gareth. The Gemini Killer makes his way to the library, leaving a cryptic note tucked inside a book on serial killers, instructing someone to meet him at 8 PM. Little does he know, his message will go unread!
Dexter is taken aback when the Gemini Killer unexpectedly turns up at his doorstep, catching him off guard. During their conversation about their shared trade, Dexter subtly spikes Gareth's drink. Gareth reveals his twisted philosophy, believing that slaying a father-son duo aligns with his modus operandi and constitutes the "ultimate bond," a final gesture for those who meet his criteria. He disparages the Zodiac Killer, branding him an amateur and insisting that Red ranks at best as number two.
Oblivious to the fact that he's not dealing with Red but rather with the sinister Dark Passenger, it doesn't take long for Dexter to administer the drug and render Gareth unconscious.
As for Harrison, he finds himself entrusted with the solemn task of babysitting Elsa while she is away at work. When her landlord arrives unexpectedly, demanding the rent with an air of authority, Harrison feels compelled to come to her defense. He conjures a fantastical scenario in his mind where he dispatches the landlord with a mere fork, but mercifully, he curbs his impulsive tendencies.
Meanwhile, Dexter is caught off guard by a visit from Blessing, shortly after dispatching Gemini. In a flurry of activity, he hastily conceals the body in the bathtub, just as Blessing arrives, unburdening her soul about the profound loss she feels following Prudence's demise. She had been the beacon that lit his way out of darkness, guiding him through the turmoil of his childhood as a soldier and the subsequent years of struggle.
Dexter listens intently, these words serving as a poignant reminder of the need for caution and the importance of safeguarding Harrison. He takes it upon himself to impart this wisdom to Harrison, engaging him in a heartfelt conversation about his impulses. "Just because your temper flares hotly, it does not render you a monster," Dexter reassures him. "It merely makes you human." Dexter yearns to offer Harrison a fresh start, but this endeavor may prove more challenging with Prater breathing down their necks.
Not long after his lunch with Harrison, Dexter receives a call from Charley, instructing him to meet at Pier 6, bringing along his trophies and tools. At the prison, Wallace and Batista are en route to visit Mia, but a hurdle presents itself. A prison guard, who happens to be the same individual Charley earlier met and bribed, confirms Mia's death by suicide in her cell. Clearly, they have taken Gemini's warning to heart.
Dexter and Al arrive at the pier, only to be compelled onto a helicopter for an abrupt "change of scenery." To everyone's astonishment, Gemini materializes out of thin air. Yet, he regards Dexter with an unperturbed gaze, realizing in a delightful twist of fate that there are in fact two of him—twins.
