With a glimmer of hope for freedom, Dong-jae entices Kyeong-Hak to abandon his dark deeds and flee. Initially skeptical, Kyeong-Hak's resolve falters, and he agrees to accompany Dong-jae to the district prosecutor's office—a sanctuary where only authorized entities can officially record the deaths of the unclaimed.

Inside the prosecutor's office, Dong-jae diligently fills out the paperwork, while Kyeong-Hak anxiously awaits the document that he believes will erase his sins. But just as the printout nears completion, Dong-jae's sudden cry for help shatters the illusion. Jo Byung-gun and Kim Ji-Hee, office personnel, rush to the scene, only to find themselves comically inept in subduing the killer.

In a desperate bid, Kyeong-Hak seizes Sung Shi-Won, Dong-jae's junior colleague, as a hostage within the confines of a malfunctioning elevator. However, fate intervenes as the elevator's breakdown leads to Kyeong-Hak's swift arrest. Dong-jae, now wounded by a stab, is rushed to the hospital, his life hanging in the balance.

The following day, the prosecutor's office issues a carefully crafted statement, omitting Dong-jae's role to shield him from unwanted scrutiny tied to the sponsored prosecutors' case. Behind closed doors, however, Dong-jae is quietly commended for his bravery. Meanwhile, Byung-gun basks in the limelight, garnering media attention for his involvement.

Elsewhere, Nam Wan-Sung, CEO of Lee Hong Construction, makes a prison visit to Kyeong-Hak, accompanied by his lawyer, Joo Jung-Ki, who had previously feigned victimhood in a separate ruse. Wan-Sung's agenda is clear: he seeks to acquire Kyeong-Hak's land. Recalling Dong-jae's whispers of untold wealth, Kyeong-Hak sees an opportunity and attempts to broker a deal—his land for Wan-Sung's hand in Dong-jae's demise. But Wan-Sung, unmoved, turns down the offer and departs, leaving Kyeong-Hak to ponder his next move.

At the hospital's hushed corridors, Dong-jae's path unexpectedly crosses with a schoolgirl he had fleetingly encountered at a bowling alley. She's in a panic, hiding from an unseen pursuer, and Dong-jae, without hesitation, offers the sanctuary of his room. Yet, upon waking from slumber, he discovers she's vanished into the shadows, leaving behind a mystery.

As Dong-jae's thoughts wander, a call from his wife pierces through the silence, her voice laced with worry. It becomes apparent that they reside apart, their children's safety a precarious balance amidst the perils of his profession. Glancing at the news, a fleeting sense of pride flickers within him, swiftly extinguished by the specter of the sponsored prosecutor scandal resurfacing.

The next dawn brings an unexpected encounter with Nam Wan-Sung, who slides a subtle bribe into Dong-jae's palm. Dong-jae's fury boils over at Wan-Sung's persistent attempts to drag him back into the mire of corruption. He dresses in his finest attire, an armor of righteousness, and confronts Wan-Sung amidst the pulsing energy of a club. Wan-Sung's words echo with a sinister tone, reminding Dong-jae of a rural plot of land, once barren and worthless, now imbued with the weight of a hefty bribe—a legacy of Dong-jae's clouded past when alcohol clouded his judgment. Wan-Sung's taunt is unrelenting, branding Dong-jae as a "sponsored prosecutor," his shadow a constant companion. The ultimatum: Beg Kyeong-Hak to part with the land, regardless of the consequences.

Back at his abode, Dong-jae's hands tremble as he uncovers the deed to that fateful land, a tangible reminder of his moral dilemmas.

Meanwhile, Byung-gun's entanglement with the nefarious world of drugs unravels with each passing moment. His accomplice, Park Chan-yeong, lies battered and bruised, his true colors exposed—a link to a notorious drug lord through marriage. Byung-gun narrowly dodges a bullet as a search warrant for the club where Chan-yeong operates hangs perilously in the balance, the prosecutor's office closing in on the drug network with relentless precision.
