Episode 6 of "Dong Jae, the Good or the Bastard" kicks off with a forensics squad meticulously scrutinizing the crime scene where Mr. Kang was brutally murdered. Through meticulous deduction, they conclude that Kang had possibly managed to press the gun against his assailant first, injuring the latter before ultimately succumbing to his fatal wound. Dong-jae, determined to uncover clues, scours the area for any trace of the culprit's blood, yet his efforts yield no fruit. Adding another layer of mystery, Kang's car is also missing, prompting Dong-jae to request the police to scrutinize toll data to ascertain whether Kang had driven into the town from Seoul. If so, the perpetrator might still be in possession of the vehicle.
Desperation sets in as Dong-jae combs every possible surface for fingerprints, to no avail, until a passing officer remarks on the overwhelming stench and toxic fumes permeating the air. This observation sparks a revelation in Dong-jae's mind, reminding him of the bowling alley owner—a man who emitted an unusual odor and coughed incessantly. Dong-jae speculates that this could stem from the fact that the bowling alley owner might be the actual drug manufacturer, and over time, the toxicity had taken a severe toll on his health .
Elsewhere, Wan-sung has secured Chan-hyeok in his grasp, devising a sinister plot to pin the blame for Yoo-ri's murder entirely on him. In their quest to execute this plan, they pick up the wounded Geum-ho from the streets. However, upon discovering his lifeless body, they callously discard it once again. Chan-hyeok is left with no choice but to comply with Wan-sung's fabricated narrative under the threat of dire consequences.
Byung-gun finds himself at a dead end, with his sole lead in the case vanished into thin air. Meanwhile, Dong-jae arrives at the bowling alley, but it stands eerily deserted. He instructs his junior officer to uncover the identity of the alley's registered owner and to obtain a search warrant for Mr. Kang's Seoul address, hoping to unravel the tangled web of secrets surrounding this tragic saga.
Dong-jae, Byung-gun, and Mi-ran concurrently arrive at the police station, with Mi-ran promptly inquiring about Chan-hyeok's whereabouts. Dong-jae updates Mi-ran on the latest revelations, explaining how the shotgun used to murder Yoo-ri was discovered at the drug production site alongside Kang's lifeless body. Essentially, he contends that the scope of his investigation has broadened to encompass the drug cartel. In a gesture of playful competition, Mi-ran declares that she will credit the resolution of the case to whoever captures Geum-ho and the drug manufacturer. This pronouncement ignites a comical rivalry between Dong-jae and Geum-ho, prompting both to redouble their efforts in solving the mystery.
Byung-gun's attempts to locate Chan-hyeok yield no results, while Dong-jae discovers that the bowling alley's owner deceived an unsuspecting individual into registering the establishment under his name. Kang's autopsy fails to uncover any fresh leads, leading Dong-jae to resolve to conclusively shut the book on the land bribery issue.
In light of these new developments, Gyeo-re is freed from his constraints, and Dong-jae escorts him back home, forcing Wan-sung to repurchase the land from Dong-jae. With Gyeo-re safely back, Wan-sung's legal team starts working diligently on the drug case that has entangled Gyeo-re.
Elsewhere, in a comical twist, Byung-gun manages to sneakily pilfer the search warrant that Dong-jae had requested for Kang's Seoul apartment. Dong-jae, in response, tasks his junior with chasing after Byung-gun to retrieve it.
In the meantime, Dong-jae manages to secure assistance from an employee at the bowling center, who kindly opens the gate for him. As he delves deeper, he stumbles upon a stash of medication discarded in the trash can. Upon the arrival of a police officer, it is revealed to be ecstasy. Additionally, Yoo-ri's colleague unearths a photograph taken by Yoo-ri, which happens to capture the bowling alley owner's face in the backdrop.
Amidst this unfolding drama, Wan-sung orchestrates a press conference where Gyeo-re is compelled to issue a statement. This statement scapegoats Yoo-ri for the entire drug fiasco and cleverly portrays her as a victim of police coercion, leveraging her status as the daughter of a former police captain. Elsewhere, Byung-gun tracks down Kang's car and makes a bold decision to pursue it relentlessly.
The episode concludes with Dong-jae, fueled by determination, vowing to reclaim his tarnished reputation and aiming for a colossal promotion to the supreme office. Armed with crucial knowledge about the identity of the drug manufacturer, he stands poised for victory!
