Elated, Dong-jae prepares meticulously for his interview answers ahead of the prestigious ceremony where he is poised to receive the Model Prosecutor of the Year award. His investigative prowess shines through as he reveals consulting a medical expert who enlightened him on the prevalence of pulmonary ailments among drug manufacturers, stemming from their exposure to noxious fumes, necessitating regular hospital visits for mandatory treatments. By strategically monitoring nearby hospitals, Dong-jae intercepts the drug maker on his way to receive his mandatory injection.

The veil of secrecy surrounding Yoo-ri's demise starts to lift. The drug maker had expressed his desire to quit the illicit trade to Kang, the distributor. Mistakenly believing that the drug maker was colluding with Yoo-ri, who had recently embarked on drug peddling, Kang pulls the trigger on her. He then lays in wait to eliminate the drug maker with the same shotgun, but fate has other plans, leading to Kang's own demise.

Amidst his triumph, Dong-jae revels in accolades and admiration at a team dinner. However, his joy is shattered on the day of his award ceremony when Nam Wan-sung, who has come to realize Dong-jae's disingenuous assistance, makes a bombshell revelation on his lawyer's YouTube channel, exposing Dong-jae's corrupt past. Dong-jae remains oblivious to this revelation until he is publicly disgraced and ejected from the ceremony, much to his wife's embarrassment. On the other hand, Mi-ran faces rebuke from the chief prosecutor, who reallocates Dong-jae's cases and credits to Byung-gun and others. Dong-jae is suspended pending a disciplinary hearing. In a bid to sever ties with Wan-sung, Mi-ran visits him, but he defiantly declines to cooperate.

Meanwhile, Prosecutor Ji-hee finds herself amidst the chaos of a bustling construction site, where unwitting laborers mistake her for a reporter and promptly alert Wan-sung of her presence. Elsewhere, Dong-jae drops a bombshell on Gyeo-re by issuing a formal notice for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking. Ji-hee and Dong-jae subsequently forge an alliance, with Ji-hee providing Dong-jae with an insightful briefing on the perplexing construction site case.

The site, a hotbed of regulatory violations, had garnered attention when a brave whistleblower went missing shortly after reporting the infractions. A grim suspicion looms: the whistleblower's remains could very well be concealed somewhere within the sprawling construction zone. Time is of the essence; they must uncover the truth before the site's final nails are hammered home.

Wan-sung, deeply troubled by the notice against Gyeo-re, seeks refuge in the counsel of Dong-jae's former superior, now a seasoned lawyer with a formidable reputation. This strategic move is deliberate, as it aims to complicate Dong-jae's efforts in navigating the case, casting a shadow of doubt and complexity over their quest for justice.
