Episode 8 of "Dong Jae: The Good or the Bastard" kicks off with Dong-jae in the midst of preparing to plead with a figure he initially assumes to be Nam Wan-sung, but to his surprise, it's Wan-sung's wife standing before him. Securing her consent, Dong-jae proceeds with his meticulously crafted scheme to ensnare Wan-sung, fully aware that failure could spell divorce for him.
Meanwhile, Wan-sung plots Dong-jae's professional downfall by uncovering a long-buried scandal involving a land bribe. Confident in his impunity due to the expiration of the ten-year statute of limitations, Wan-sung's cunning mind devises further mischief when he learns of a reporter probing around the construction site. He swiftly orders his henchmen to "deal with" her, ensuring her silence.
Elsewhere, Dong-jae engages in a conversation with a worker at the construction site, subtly extracting information about the workforce's holiday schedule. He and Ji-hee hatch a plan to inspect the site on its off day, the next day. Dong-jae, with his sharp intellect, foresees Wan-sung's next maneuver—dragging the land bribe into the limelight. To preempt this, Dong-jae publishes a candid apology on the company intranet, candidly addressing Gyeo-re's unresolved drug case and his own past indiscretions. This strategic move throws Wan-sung's expose into disarray, prompting him to hastily arrange an emergency broadcast session with his lawyer.
In a humorous twist, Mi-ran phones Byung-gun, instructing him to keep a close watch on Dong-jae, lest he does something impulsive. On the shopping spree front, Dong-jae buys a rope and shovel in a darkly humorous scene where he defiantly refuses to succumb to despair, acknowledging that life holds myriad opportunities even if he loses his job.
Eventually, Dong-jae opens up to Byung-gun about the construction site saga, garnering Byung-gun's support as he views Wan-sung as an even greater menace. Byung-gun also discovers Mi-ran's connection with Wan-sung, prompting them to exclude her from their operations.
Meanwhile, Ji-hee embarks on a solo investigation at the construction site, where she encounters a gang of ruffians. After tumbling into a pit, she eavesdrops on their conversation, revealing chilling tales of burying people alive. Dong-jae and Byung-gun arrive on the scene just in time, prompting Ji-hee to throw her prosecutor's badge at the gangsters, who flee in terror upon realizing her identity. At the hospital, the trio ponders over ways to uncover the buried remains at the site, the tension thick with anticipation.
The following day, as Wan-sung was being grilled at the police station, Park Chan-hyeok, visibly shaken after enduring days of brutal torment, eventually emerged and openly admitted to being the genuine drug manufacturer. It was also at this juncture that the police had successfully traced one of the hoodlums due to his fingerprints found on Ji-hee's ID card, a cleverly devised plan on her part. Wan-sung vehemently denied any affiliation with the criminals and departed, informing the authorities that he would be sending his lawyer to handle the matter.
The trio of prosecutors deduced that the swiftest means to uncover the hidden body would be to trail Wan-sung when he made his move to relocate it. They enlisted the help of Mi-ran, fully aware that she would relay the information to Wan-sung. Subsequently, Mi-ran counseled Dong-jae to vacate his dormitory room in favor of his junior, Prosecutor Sung.
Later on, Wan-sung discovered that the gang members tasked with silencing Ji-hee had robbed him for funds to facilitate their escape, prompting him to dispatch his men in pursuit of them. Meanwhile, Byung-gun made an attempt to engage Chan-hyeok in conversation, but his efforts were met with no avail. Concurrently, the police captain maintained a vigilant watch over the construction site.
On the subsequent day, Dong-jae transferred all his cases to Prosecutor Sung, only to find himself facing his former chief prosecutor, who was acting as Gyeo-re's legal representative, in his very first case.
