Violet names Kate Galloway as the culprit. Meanwhile, Frank seeks out Luca Salucci (Rory Fleck Byrne), who casually mentions his lifelong yearning for a canine companion. Frank learns that the others are at church and Luca offers a private chat, hinting that he suspects Frank knows something about his nephew.

Elsewhere, Evie (Eilidh Fisher) stumbles upon Kate (Julianne Nicholson) and the others in a frenetic search for her purse, a treasure trove of her savings. Kate suggests she might have dropped it on her way back from the club the previous night. Evie, panicking, tries to conceal a deck of tarot cards, only to be questioned by Kate. Quick-thinking, Evie fabricates a story about finding them at Alice's house.

Luca tempts Frank with a bonus if he keeps quiet about the situation, pledging to safeguard Frank's daughter. However, he insists on handling Kate personally. As Frank sits uncomfortably, Luca taunts him before handing over the money and dismissing him.

Kate and Evie pay a visit to Frederick (Will Keen) and Sophie Asquith-Gore (Fiona Button), who vent their grievances about the clubs. Frederick's complaints provide a backdrop as Evie and Kate listen intently. Kate learns about an upcoming Victory Ball celebrating the war's end. When she speaks up, Frederick asserts their self-control, prompting Evie to lashes out, accusing Kate of being insensitive to her father's recent passing.

In a private conversation, Kate confronts Frederick about the tarot cards purportedly belonging to Sophie. She intends to return them discreetly, fearing scandal could tarnish his reputation and derail his political ambitions. Frederick demands to know her ulterior motive.

At home, Eddie Cobb (Michael Duke) engages with Billie Cassidy (Umi Myers) as she dances, her eyes filled with hope. Billie reveals her plans to audition, seeing it as her ticket out of their humble surroundings. Eddie offers his blessing, hoping she finds her dream.

Evie, curious about her mother's private conversation with Frederick, yearns for Kate to be truthful for once. Frustrated, she storms out, only to encounter Violet nearby, desperate to reach Frank about the murder suspect. Mrs. Fisher intercepts her, urging her to leave, but Violet, convinced Frank has betrayed her, refuses until she speaks with Turner. Frank confronts her, stating her conduct has disqualified her from wearing the police uniform. Violet is escorted from the premises, her dreams shattered.

Kate visits Damaso Salucci (Dustin Demri-Burns), who notes it's Silvio's birthday. As she inches closer to him, Luca interrupts, revealing a captive man. Elsewhere, Billie ventures to her audition, her heart pounding. Evie, clutching her mother's money, approaches Silas Huxley (Nabhaan Rizwan), who leads her away with a mysterious smile.

Silas embarks on his ritual preparations, while Billie gears up for a crucial audition. Amidst Billie's performance, Evie catches a fleeting glimpse of her father, James Galloway (portrayed by Steven Elder), who promptly vanishes into thin air. Meanwhile, Lily Lee (essayed by Priya Kansara) discovers Violet hidden away in the subterranean city and attempts to offer her some warmth. However, her intentions quickly sour as she launches an attack on Violet, brandishing a threat to incinerate her. Lily demands to uncover Violet's true identity.

Violet cleverly reverses the dynamic, informing Lily that she has never lied; Lily simply remains in the dark due to her own lack of inquiry. A spat ensues, followed by peals of laughter as they realize the absurdity of their spat. They then delve into the prospect of escape, with Violet sharing a nostalgic tale of her visit to Blackpool, suggesting they embark on the journey together. Elsewhere, presenting alternative routes to financial stability. Lily asserts her autonomy, declining Violet's rescue mission, emphasizing that she has chosen her own path and does not need anyone else to rescue her.

At the pub, Billie dishes out advice to the others, assertively reminding Reggie that he works for her, though he defiantly opts to take up the door duty regardless. Eddie cautions her to tread lightly, emphasizing that Reggie is no mere plaything. Kate's arrival confirms the possession of funds and introduces the idea of leveraging a ball at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night to gather all party members under one roof for their next move. Kate envisions a transformative night, believing one grand evening could alter their fates.

Elsewhere, Violet bumps into Frank, who warns her to zip her lips and disappear quietly. He mocks her sanctimonious demeanor, and she retaliates by hinting at exposing him to Commissioner Campbell. The confrontation escalates physically, with Frank choking Violet until she knees him and strides away, leaving him with a stern warning of his impending downfall.

Violet visits Mrs. Fisher, sharing her suspicions about Frank Turner, revealing that the Salucci family has an insider within the police force, whom she believes to be Frank. She proposes searching his office for incriminating evidence, arguing that uncovering such could elevate their credibility. The thought of besting Frank fills her with satisfaction. Finally, Violet makes her way back to the pub, reassuring Kate that she will no longer be tardy.

Kate instructs her to announce that she'll indulge in a whiskey whenever someone buys a drink that evening. Behind the bar, a bottle, ostensibly filled with tea, rests innocently. Evie ventures into the club, curious about the unfolding scene. Kate catches sight of an elderly man scooping Evie into his lap. Snatching her away, Kate demands to know what she's doing there. Billie, observing their tableau, receives Evie's mother's purse back, minus its contents. Kate inquiries about the missing money, to which Evie confesses she squandered it, accusing her mother of being money-obsessed. Kate counters that she's only doing this for Evie's sake. Billie, catching their conversation, believes Kate fears Evie will follow in her footsteps. Evie, puzzled, seeks clarification. Kate reveals that Billie is her daughter, a revelation Evie doubts.

Kate recounts her teenage pregnancy, her parents' discovery, and her solitary journey to London with Billie, whom she eventually surrendered to an orphanage. Billie chimes in, stating she stepped off the boat straight into an orphanage's embrace. Evie accuses Kate of abandoning her due to her mixed heritage, which Kate vehemently denies. Reggie, concerned, steps in to劝 Billie from being harsh. Evie accuses Kate of perpetual deceit and inquiries about her father's demise, querying who informed her and why he took his own life. She brands him a monster to her mother. Shortly after, Violet informs Kate that Luca is behind the scenarios. Kate discovers the club's clandestine drug use. Luca confronts Kate, asserting he knows she terminated his nephew's life and keeps her alive solely for potential future utility. He warns her to remain useful.

Frank issues Mrs. Fisher her instructions for the night and departs. She begins her search, only to be interrupted by Frank, who offers her a light while suspecting Violet's involvement. Frank questions how her husband would react to her undertakings in the city and wonders why she shields Violet despite her treacherous acts. Mrs. Fisher concedes Violet's instability but maintains she works for the Saluccis, a claim Frank mocks. He demands to know Violet's whereabouts. Meanwhile, Violet, pursued, searches for Lily. Frank catches up with the women, who scream for his departure. Violet seeks Lily to apologize but turns to find Frank pointing a gun. He fires before being encircled by women, enabling his escape.

Kate returns home, urging Evie to pack. They hear a knock and Kate, knife in hand, approaches cautiously. The door reveals Violet, her dress smeared with blood. Violet announces Lily's demise, evoking Kate's memories of Violet's betrayal in jail. Violet insists she's no longer aligned with the police and urges them to confront Turner. She warns that Kate's flight would seal Billie's fate at Luca's hands, revealing Kate's role in Silvio's death, unbeknownst to her then-ally Turner. Violet asserts that if the Saluccis willed Kate's demise, she'd already be dead. She concludes that they must put an end to this saga.
