Dope Girls – Season 1 Episode 4 1

Kate ventures to the club, surveying the remnants of the prior evening's revelry. Elsewhere, Sergeant Frank Turner, depicted by Ian Bonar, faces scrutiny from his superior, Commissioner J. Campbell, over the recent surge in crimes within his precinct. Campbell wonders if Turner's attention is diverted by some external influence or individual. Turner is cautioned that his position could readily be filled by others, male or female alike. Upon receiving a message from the school informing him that his daughter has been whisked away to church by her mother, Turner abruptly deserts his post. He rushes to the church, where he finds his daughter in the company of Isabella Salucci, played by Geraldine James. Isabella reveals that she has come to learn of Turner's daughter's difficulties with bullies at school, who have devised a plan for aggression. Damaso, portrayed by Dustin Demri-Burns, and Isabella mention Silvio, prompting Turner to vow to locate him. Isabella laments the potential waste of their investment in her education.

At the pub, Kate conceals a firearm, unbeknownst to others. Violet Davies, portrayed by Eliza Scanlen, arrives early to lend a hand in cleaning up. While there, Violet probes deeper into Kate's background, mentioning that she has heard whispers of Silvio Salucci's disappearance. She also inquiries about Kate's husband, to which Kate responds cryptically that he is gone. Violet expresses gratitude for the previous night's assistance. Kate senses a familiarity in Violet's visage but cannot recall where she has encountered her before.

Reggie checks on Billie, who feared he might never awaken. Their intimate encounter unfolds, followed by Billie's declaration that she is not ready for motherhood. Stepping outdoors, Billie catches sight of a poster advertising a performance featuring Evelyn Starling. She procures a phonograph and transports it to the club. While unattended, Violet discovers the firearm Kate had earlier concealed.

In a private moment, Kate and Billie confide in each other about uniting to overcome adversity. Billie refuses to idly watch as their establishment turns into another Danton's fate. Kate emphasizes the need for professionalism and self-imposed regulations. Billie inquires about funds and liquor, cautioning Kate about the Salucci family's capabilities. Kate ventures to the House of Salucci to converse with Damaso, who prides himself on producing England's finest leather. Their discussion veers into business matters, with the Salucci family demanding weekly payments. Kate inquiries about the perks accompanying her obligations. Damaso assures her safety, but Kate counters with the challenges of reopening amidst the destruction of her inventory from the previous night. She asserts it's Damaso's problem if he desires profit, and she requests a loan of liquor from him.

She insists that an exception ought to be made for her club, affirming confidently that it is destined to become the pinnacle of nightlife in London. Damaso, inquisitive, demands to know what sets her establishment apart. Kate, assertive, claims it's her very essence that does. Relenting slightly, Damaso concedes to lending her the alcohol, albeit at a premium—a fifty percent surcharge. After some negotiation, they compromise on a forty percent markup. Kate reassures him that there will be no illicit substances sold within the club's premises. Luca (Rory Fleck Byrne), skeptical, perceives Kate as Damaso's benevolent project.

Meanwhile, Evie meticulously tidies up the flat before venturing out to visit Silas Huxley (Nabhaan Rizwan). Silas inquiries if she has brought the items he requested. In parallel, Kate and her team diligently work on preparing the club for its grand reopening. Billie takes a brief interlude for a refreshing drink, where she is prodded about an audition for a buzzworthy film. Walter Daniels (Samson Ajewole), Eddie's beau, reveals he had urged Eddie to inform Billie about it. Billie confronts Eddie, who stands firm, advocating that running away isn't a solution—but Billie clarifies that this decision is personal, unrelated to Kate's circumstances.

Lily Lee (Priya Kansara) confides in Violet, convinced that Kate is burdened by a curse, suggesting some individuals carry an invisible shadow, which Lily claims to discern in Kate's aura. Evie confides in Silas, revealing her longing to know that her father loves her. Silas, expressing his belief that he concealed his pain to shield Evie, assures her of his love. Evie counters, highlighting his abandonment. Silas opens up about his emotions during their daughter's passing and suggests it's time for Evie to return home, citing the limitations and costs of his sessions.

At the pub, Reggie alerts his compatriots to the presence of a policeman seeking the owner. Turner steps in, engaging Kate in conversation. Learning of her collaboration with the Salucci family, Turner marvels at her audacity to run such an establishment. He mentions a fleeting sight of Eddie perched on another man's lap at the café and urges her to accompany him. Violet, interrupting, boldly claims Turner has a penchant for menstrual blood splattered across his visage. Turner, unfazed, apprehends Violet, dismissing her tactics and urging her to assist in uncovering the truth behind the Salucci boy's fate. He removes the handcuffs, placing his trust in her, and exits.

Billie swayed gracefully with Evie as the night's festivities unfolded, their movements a symphony of rhythm and grace. Not long after, Kate joined them, her arrival tinged with a hint of trepidation as she confessed that even her deal on the liquor barely scratches the surface of their upcoming challenges. She inquired about Billie's well-being, who promptly vented her frustrations about the lurking gangsters and police presence. Kate pondered whether aligning with the Salucci family was indeed the right call, emphasizing the necessity of a lucrative night.

Luca engaged Damaso in a hushed conversation, urging him to seize the opportunity Kate Galloway presented. He subtly hinted at the racecourse, yet his mind wandered to more audacious plans—razing old man Flynn's abode to the ground. As they scoped out the property, Luca's demeanor shifted, haunted by memories of wartime horrors. Damaso, noticing his distress, attempted to reassure him. Nonetheless, Luca's agitation escalated, and when Mr. Wilfred Flynn, steadfast in his refusal to sell, dared them to return in a year, Luca's temper snapped. Damaso struggled to restrain him, but it was in vain. In a moment of relentless fury, Wilfred brandished a gun, only to be fatally shot by Luca. Damaso swiftly orchestrated a cover-up, staging the scene to imply suicide, while Luca, disoriented, heard another gunshot in the distance.

Returning to Kate's club, Damaso dismissed Luca's condition as illness, insisting he wasn't his keeper. Billie's joy dimmed upon seeing Luca and his cronies arrive, while Evie succumbed to slumber. Kate expressed gratitude to Violet for managing the police threat, with Violet responding that she wasn't easily intimidated. Kate reassured her that the Saluccis' connections within the police force would offer protection. Amidst the lively performances, Luca's paranoia grew, convinced Eddie was accusing him. His behavior turned belligerent, taunting Eddie openly. Later, Eddie revealed to Kate that Billie had believed in her promises of change, though Kate vowed it would come to pass.

Damaso approached Kate, while outside, Violet confronted Luca for mistreating Lily. With a swift and powerful strike, she disarmed him, seizing his gun. Lily urged caution, reminding her it belonged to the Saluccis. Realizing Luca's intoxication had rendered him oblivious to their presence, Lily urged them to leave. Damaso briefed Kate on the night's earnings, and she delicately inquired about his missing son, prompting Damaso to confront his struggles. He revealed the sorrow of raising Silvio alone after his wife's demise and the youth's disappearance, mirroring his uncle's fiery temperament.

Escorting Luca home, Damaso left Kate to disperse the crowd. In the stillness of the night, Violet sneaked into The 33, retrieving the gun. A hunch whispered that it might belong to Silvio Salucci, weaving yet another layer of intrigue into the night's tapestry.
