DTF St. Louis – Season 1 Episode 4 1

Days pass, and Richard's outbursts at the supermarket come to light, with him hurling bottles of milk, leaving Carol to foot the bill. Her umpire job proves even more trying, as she encounters a recalcitrant teenager who refuses to pay. Upon returning home, Floyd's indifference to her woes only exacerbates her frustration, particularly when he finds the umpire costume a turn-off. To add insult to injury, the lawn maintenance crew passes by, leaving yet another unpaid bill. Carol's frustration culminates in tears.

Meanwhile, Clark and Floyd embark on a cycling expedition to a vineyard. Amidst the serenity of their recumbent bikes and an overabundance of various wines, Floyd candidly shares his health and financial woes. Clark seizes this opportunity to propose Carol's idea of collective support. Floyd hesitates but is reminded of their motto: "B out the B," which signifies their commitment to bringing out the best in each other.

The revelation that Richard suffers from borderline personality disorder complicates his adjustment to public school. Clark steps in to pay for his tuition at a smaller private school and shoulder the taxes. He also prepares Floyd for the life insurance physical, ultimately setting up the policy behind his wife's back. The bills Clark covers are sent to a P.O. Box arranged by Floyd.

In this episode, the struggles of the St. Louis family are vividly portrayed, with each character grappling with their own set of challenges and finding ways to support one another amidst their hardships.

This narrative unveils the intrigue surrounding a mysterious key, a pivotal item that Floyd possessed. Among his five keys, four served distinct purposes: unlocking the house, garage, gym locker, and work locker. Plumb's curiosity piques when she realizes that the fifth key might unlock something, and Clark's sudden shift in demeanor upon hearing about it hints at her uncovering a potential truth. Homer, on the other hand, brushes off the matter, claiming to have numerous keys of unknown origin and intent to disregard the issue entirely.

Plumb presses on, doubting Homer's assertion that Floyd used an app solely for social encounters. She urges revisiting Christopher, alias "Modern Love," to determine if Floyd was indeed Mr. Wonderful, a man who would indulge in a French kiss merely to avoid making someone feel uneasy about their sexuality. Plumb and Homer once again question Christopher about the kiss with Floyd and the workings of the DTF app. He explains that some engage in immediate intimacy, while others prefer breakfast first to assess compatibility. During his breakfast with Floyd, he acted politely and refrained from any inappropriate touch, particularly kissing Floyd on the left cheek, suggesting his lack of interest in the kiss. This subtle detail is noted by both Plumb and Homer.

Christopher further elucidates that human behavior is far from ordinary, with sexual urges that are often difficult to escape. He mentions the need to conceal these impulses, which is why people rent P.O. Boxes to store their dildos. Plumb and Homer strike a breakthrough in their investigation when they finally realize that the key opens a P.O. Box. Inside, they discover Floyd's health insurance policy with a million-dollar payout to Carol in case of his demise, providing a plausible motive for murder.

The episode concludes with Floyd paying a visit to the motel where Carol and Clark indulge in their sexual escapades. He requests to see their room and hides in the closet, witnessing his wife and best friend engage in a sexual role-play as a pool boy and his employer, respectively.
