Dune: Prophecy – Season 1 Episode 3 1

Outside the palace walls, Griffin shares heartfelt words with Valya, commending her heroism for rescuing him from the perilous depths of a lake. He lends his unwavering support to her plan to confront Atreides and reclaim their birthright. However, tragedy strikes soon after, as Griffin falls victim to the Atreides' wrath, his untimely demise leaving Valya shattered and vengeful.

Desiring nothing short of Atreides' suffering, Valya finds herself ensnared in the desolate landscape of Wallach IX, her aspirations of retribution seemingly dashed. Grief-stricken and disoriented, she grapples with the loss of her brother, who she was destined to accompany as his Truthsayer to the Landsraad. Now, she feels adrift, her purpose obscured by the shroud of sorrow.

Valya's character is marked by her unyielding stubbornness and formidable vocal prowess. When Raquella, the current Mother Superior, enters her life, she offers a confidential ear filled with empathy. Having herself endured the loss of her husband during the Machine Wars, Raquella understands Valya's anguish profoundly. She believes that Valya holds the potential to mold the Imperium and forge her own destiny—but only if she chooses to remain and confront her challenges head-on.

This flashback holds immense significance, as it illuminates Valya's unwavering determination—a fortitude that allows her to place her trust in herself, even when a shroud of doubt envelops everyone in her vicinity. Amidst this resolve, she addresses her sisters, urging them to embark on another attempt. Her objective: to reclaim her grip over Corrino, while directing the other women to reunite with their respective nobles.

However, a sudden obstacle arises when Valya learns of Lila's demise. Raquella's prophecy, which speaks of "a person twice born in blood and in spice," begins to resonate deeply with her, hinting that Desmond could be the fulfillment of this mystical foretelling. This revelation crystallizes her decision; she must return home.

Upon her arrival, she finds Tula already there, immersed in grief over Lila's passing. Tula fiercely guards Lila's body, refusing to allow anyone to lay a hand on her. She intends to take her time in grieving, allowing the pain to unfold naturally.

Flashbacks intertwine with the present, painting a vivid picture of Tula's past. She finds herself entangled with a man named Orry, striving to make a favorable impression on his family. Her skills in nurturing and skinning animals are unparalleled, and she possesses an unyielding compassion.

This compassion is epitomized when a horse stumbles and breaks its leg. While others advocate for a swift end through a knife, Tula opts for a more humane approach, administering poison to ease the horse's suffering. She follows her own unique path, diverging from Valya's, yet we are aware that these distinct trajectories will ultimately converge within the Sisterhood's embrace.

Tula ventured out from her home, her heart heavy with the sorrow that had shrouded her parents following her brother's demise. She longed for recognition, placing her hopes on her partner, Orry, who eagerly sought her hand in marriage. Yet, after their intimate night, Tula revealed a startling truth: her true surname was Harkonnen. Though Orry initially accepted this revelation, his sentiments shifted drastically when he uncovered the deeper, darker plot. Tula had betrayed him and his family, the Atreides, slaughtering them all with poison under the cover of night. In a cruel twist, she ultimately stabbed Orry in the neck, ending his life as well, save for a solitary young boy whom she mercifully spared.

Meanwhile, Raquella led Valya through the labyrinthine tunnels, recounting the same intricate details about bloodline DNA and the Sisterhood's ongoing endeavors that had been introduced in episode one. But Valya, unable to bear more, retreated before Raquella could unlock her mind.

Raquella bore tidings from Tula, signifying the "feast's end" – a euphemism for the Atreides family's grim fate. Valya, with unfinished business awaiting her at home, prepared to depart. Raquella, acknowledging this, granted Valya leave to confront her past, hoping she would return as a Reverend Mother… or not at all. This context clarified the murder in episode one and the motive behind Valya's usurpation of power.

Valya returned home, confronting Tula who confirmed the mission's completion. However, her kin's wrath was unyielding. They blamed Valya for the carnage, driving her to walk away from them. Indeed, her almost lethal encounter with her own mother hinted that this separation was for the best.

Armed with the vial bestowed by Raquella, Valya stood atop a cliff, her mind unlocking as she followed the beacon of light, precisely as instructed. Renewed with purpose, Valya rejoined Tula, committed to elevating the Sisterhood.

In the present day, the Sisters bid farewell to Lila, amidst growing tension among them. They resented Lila's treatment as a mere pawn in this intricate game. Tula, however, harbored her own designs. She escorted Lila to the archives, connecting her to the machines there, attempting to breathe life back into her…
