Nikki (Jenny Slate) bustles in, her concern evident as she inquires about Molly's well-being. She learns that emergency intubation was necessary following Molly's lung collapse. With limited ability to speak, Molly scribbles a note, humorously asking if the attending physician has obtained parental consent to be present. Nikki informs Molly that a decision on their next course of action will have to wait until dawn. Molly, clinging to hope, pleads with Nikki not to abandon her side. Obliging, Nikki stays put, doing her utmost to lift Molly's spirits amidst the somber atmosphere.

Later, Nikki conveys Molly's desire to have the breathing tube removed to the doctor. Sonya (Esco Jouley), another healthcare professional, cautions that Molly's body might forget how to breathe autonomously post-removal. Compounding matters, Molly's DNR status prohibits resuscitation efforts, necessitating Nikki's explicit approval. With a heavy heart, Nikki watches alongside Sonya as the doctor carefully withdraws the tube. Miraculously, Molly resumes breathing unaided.

In a private moment, Molly confides in Nikki, revealing she had confessed her love to her neighbor, Guy (Rob Delaney). Dr. Pankowitz (David Rasche) then informs Molly of the impending lumbar puncture, explaining that a spinal tap is crucial to ascertain if the cancer has infiltrated her spinal cord lining. Should cancer cells be detected, they will discuss the feasibility of continuing treatment. Recovery time will be essential post-procedure, Pankowitz emphasizes. Molly, determined, insists on seeing Guy immediately. Nikki, ever accommodating, agrees to fetch Guy, along with Molly's vibrators and lubricant, adding a touch of levity to the dire situation.

Left alone, Molly's vision blurs, yet she notices a shadowy figure seated nearby. Nikki returns with Guy and the requested items, only to realize she has misplaced her phone. Guy admits the situation feels surreal, while Nikki senses a change in the air. Guy praises her unwavering dedication. A call from Noah (Kelvin Yu) interrupts, informing Nikki of an unexpected medical bill for Molly. Guy scrambles to prevent their car from being towed, but to no avail; Nikki's vehicle, laden with Molly's belongings, is carted away. Frustrated, Nikki urges Guy to take the subway. Noah, on the line, inquires how he can assist. Nikki, her wit undiminished, jokes about an audition for "A Midsummer Night's Dream" before requesting Noah's help.

Meanwhile, Sonya assists Molly in preparing for her procedure, warning her about Ernie, the night nurse, known for his strict rules. Ernie enters, announcing a ban on visitors that evening. Molly, ever curious, asks him about love. Guy arrives shortly after, bearing taco-patterned socks to keep Molly's cold feet warm. Guy partially undressed, suggesting he remain so until morning. Molly, ever the provocateur, joked that Nikki was arriving with a bag of vibrators. Noah arrived in time, holding a bunch of vibrators and handing them to Nikki, and also thoughtfully brought Nikki's favorite soup. He planned to stay and wait until the rain stopped before leaving.

Guy reassures Molly that they don't have to engage in any activity. She playfully responds that she just wants to inhale his scent, adding a tender note to their tumultuous evening.

Guy suggests they should both acknowledge that, from a medical standpoint, engaging in anything that might provide her sexual fulfillment tonight isn't advisable. Molly concurs, adding that he should also refrain from climaxing. With that settled, she initiates intimacy with him. Meanwhile, Nikki chomps away noisily as Noah sits beside her, unaware that despite his brief flirtation with engagement rings, he's currently unattached. Noah confesses to being in a relationship and finds it satisfying. Guy, meanwhile, is distracted by concern for Molly, but she encourages him to gently caress her. She expresses uncertainty about her ability to feel anything. Obeying her subtle directives, Guy ventures to touch her intimately.

Suddenly, Molly catches sight of another man, causing a fleeting distraction. Guy reassures her of his presence, and they resume their passionate kissing. However, Guy abruptly halts, remembering he forgot to complete his daily Wordle challenge. He jokes about filling her hair with lubricant, prompting Molly to return the gesture. She teasingly asks if he'd like to see her breasts, to which Guy nonchalantly replies that they're "cool." As he begins to kiss her body, Molly urges him to use his tongue, escalating their intimacy.

Just as Guy delves deeper into oral pleasure, Ernie interrupts with Molly's medication. After Ernie leaves, Molly wonders why Guy has paused, but he believes it's the responsible thing to do under the circumstances. They cuddle together, only to resume their kissing moments later. Guy once again initiates oral intimacy with Molly, and it seems she may have finally reached climax.

Later, Guy offers to either stay or return later that night, but Molly declines. She doesn't want their encounter to be her last memory; instead, she dreams of adopting a dog with him someday. She acknowledges that this will likely be a fleeting moment for him and asks him to stay until she falls asleep. Upon waking, Molly finds Nikki staring at her, wearing Guy's distinctive taco-patterned socks. Molly shares with Nikki that it finally happened, referring to their intimate encounter. Soon afterward, the medical staff arrives to take Molly for her spinal tap procedure.
