Family Matters – K-drama Episode 3 1

Shifting focus to the present, Young-soo seeks clarification from Gang-sung regarding his decision to release Ho-chul. Grandpa stands firm, asserting that his act was a calculated move to unite the family under the weight of a shared crisis. He believes that confronting adversity will forge bonds stronger than ever. Yet, Chul-hee and Young-soo harbor doubts, fearing that such revelations might only jeopardize the safety of their children.

At school, Ji-woo steps into a leadership role, announcing with conviction that she and Ji-hoon will champion the cause of Kyu-tae's victims. She pledges an end to bullying and severs ties with Jae-goon, marking a bold stance against injustice. That evening, Young-soo fulfills her promise, presenting Ji-hoon with a laptop—unbeknownst to her, Ji-hoon already possesses a stash of three. After dinner, as he delves into deleting incriminating videos from Jae-goon's website, Ji-hoon uncovers a startling revelation: No-won, the man behind the curtain, orchestrating a sinister ring of exploitation where women are filmed and even enslaved. One of his victims, his secretary, is kept in abject fear through threats against her father's well-being.

In parallel, Ho-chul's investigative prowess uncovers more about Kyu-tae, revealing his ties to Deacon Joe. He places a call to Joe, spilling the beans about Young-soo's family and forwarding a secretly filmed video as evidence. Enraged and seeking justice for his son, who remains in dire straits—suffering from phantom pain with no known remedy—Deacon Joe plots his revenge. The doctor's prognosis adds a grim layer to the narrative, painting a picture of Kyu-tae's helpless plight.

On the flip side, Detective Jung-hwan and his sidekick, Joong-man, uncover a trail that directs them straight to the veterinary clinic. Coincidentally, No-won's secretary arrives at the clinic with a feline in need of medical attention. Chul-hee senses the cat's distress but finds himself powerless to alleviate her suffering. Across the shop, Young-soo receives a call from Ho-chul, alerting her to Deacon Joe's impending arrival. Despite her apparent lack of fear, Young-soo's thoughts are consumed by worry for the children.

The police precede the villains to the clinic, where Gang-chul pretends to be cooperative, guiding them to a local tavern that Deacon Joe has his eye on purchasing. The tavern owner is reluctant to sell, prompting Deacon Joe and his thugs to visit him and subject him to brutal treatment. Midst their torment, the police arrive to inquire, catching Deacon Joe off guard. He swiftly conceals the owner and claims to Jung-hwan that he has already acquired the tavern. The officers scrutinize the surroundings but find nothing incriminating. Nevertheless, Jung-hwan's sharp eyes catch the bracelet adorning Deacon Joe's wrist, and he is astonished to recognize it as belonging to the church.

As the day progresses, Ji-hoon confronts Jae-gon about No-won's antics. Meanwhile, No-won persists in terrorizing his father's secretary. As the day draws to a close, Young-soo grows anxious, awaiting a call from the children. Ji-hoon's call brings relief, assuring her that they are safe but emphasizing the necessity to address No-won's behavior.

No-won's secretary reappears, and this time, Chul-hee and Young-soo persuade her to confide in them. She pours out her heart, detailing the abuse she endures under No-won's reign of terror. He incessantly calls her, insisting on meetings at a hotel, leaving her petrified of complying.

A few moments later, Young-soo dials Ji-hoon's number, only to find Ji-woo has arrived home solo from school. However, their conversation is abruptly intercepted by Deacon Joe, who has abducted both Ji-hoon and his sweetheart on their way back. Misidentifying Min-jung as Ji-woo, Deacon Joe now demands that Ji-woo bring her parents to him. Enraged, Young-soo and Chul-hee devise a strategy of division and conquest. Young-soo instructs Ji-woo to stay put, while Chul-hee sets out to rescue Min-jung and Ji-hoon. Offering to assist No-won's secretary, Young-soo heads to the hotel in her stead.

No-won is both astounded and thrilled to see Young-soo, mistaking her for a fresh target. But Young-soo quickly dispels his illusion with a stunning knockout punch and ushers the secretary and her father into the room.

Elsewhere, Chul-hee marches toward Ji-hoon's rescue, with Young-soo reminding him over the phone to refrain from taking any lives. In a tender moment, Ji-hoon urges Min-jung to shut her eyes and trust their father to save them. The episode culminates with Chul-hee removing his glasses, his eyes blazing with determination as he prepares to unleash his fury upon Deacon Joe and his cronies.
