FBI: International – Season 4 Episode 5 1

Elsewhere, an elderly man named Gilbert logs into a dating website, eagerly awaiting his chat with Natalya. They have been planning their offline rendezvous for two days, with Gilbert flying to Warsaw to meet her. Both are thrilled about the impending meeting. Unfortunately, upon Gilbert's arrival in Warsaw, their reunion turns into a nightmare as they are swiftly abducted. The Fly Squad is promptly summoned to tackle the case, as Gilbert holds American citizenship.

The team delves into Gilbert's background and uncovers that he has fallen prey to a romance scam. His daughter, Melissa, is firmly convinced that the young woman her father had been communicating with is equally complicit in the deception.

The Fly team boards a plane to Warsaw and is met by the local police, who seem less than enthusiastic about rushing to resolve the matter. Three days pass without any significant leads. Vo interviews several witnesses and manages to obtain the make and model of the kidnappers' vehicle. Melissa joins the investigation, revealing that she hasn't received any ransom demands. Despite police reports confirming Natalya's abduction, Melissa remains skeptical of her innocence, noting that Natalya and her father had been corresponding for eight months. Prior to his trip, Melissa had frozen his accounts out of concern for his safety. To assist with the case, the sergeant assigns Constable Adam to the Fly Team.

As the tension mounts, the Fly team tracks the IP address of the dating site administrator to an apartment in the city. They swoop in to make an arrest and apprehend Piotrek. Wes and Smitty are astounded when Adam physically assaults Piotrek while he is in custody. During interrogation, Piotrek confesses that he oversees or impersonates the female profiles on the site. He acknowledges knowing Natalya but reveals that she conceals her chats with Gilbert. He also mentions working for someone named Patrick, whom he has never met face-to-face.

Piotrek is instructed to contact Patrick, allowing the police to gain access to his spreadsheet. They uncover a staggering list of victims dating back years. One victim, who lost his passport, is still in the country. The team realizes that the dating site is a meticulously crafted trap designed to ensnare elderly men and coerce them into spending money on the women. Upon arriving in Warsaw, the victims are ambushed, and their bank accounts are emptied. Embarrassed and ashamed, many victims refrain from reporting the incidents.

The team boards a surveillance van and proceeds to inspect the bar mentioned by one of the victims. Disguising himself, Wes infiltrates the venue and successfully locates Natalya. They promptly bring her in for interrogation, but she's visibly shaken and terrified. To ease her fears, they assure her of protection if she assists them in the case.

Under their questioning, Natalya directs them toward a ruthless individual named Andrich. The team intercepts a message from his phone, revealing that Melissa has received a ransom demand. Returning their focus to Melissa, she discloses that the kidnappers sent a ransom video, demanding 10 million dollars.

In the harrowing footage, Gilbert pleads with his daughter to pay the ransom while Andrich brutally extracts his teeth. The team meticulously analyzes the video and persuades Melissa to allow them to handle the ransom negotiations. Raines instructs her to text Andrich, informing him that she only has 5 million dollars at present. He then attempts to track Andrich, hoping the reduced ransom will lure him out.

Meanwhile, Amanda and Vo scrutinize potential hideouts where Andrich might be holding Gilbert. Arriving just too late, they still manage to discover two fingers tossed into a blazing fire, a grim indication of Andrich's escalating brutality. The Fly Team is deeply concerned and urges the local police to provide additional resources. In the meantime, Adam salvages a burnt external GPS monitor from the scene.

Vo also uncovers footage of Andrich and his accomplice fleeing the location. Armed with this information, the team begins to scrutinize all locations loaded onto the GPS monitor. Simultaneously, Andrich agrees to accept the first payment within an hour. Raines prompts Melissa to demand another proof of life, and Andrich responds with an audio recording of Gilbert wailing in distress. Though Raines cannot pinpoint the exact location, he narrows down the possible area where the kidnappers might be hiding.

Furthermore, the police identify Andrich's accomplice as Kosh. Thanks to the GPS monitor and their knowledge of the suspects, they uncover the address. As they rush to rescue Gilbert, a fierce shootout erupts. The team successfully saves Gilbert, but DNA tests on the fingers reveal that Andrich has another victim. Fortunately, the team apprehends Kosh and coerces him to reveal Andrich's new location.

Although rescuing the second victim is no longer part of their mission, the team altruistically agrees to help Smitty save him. Once Kosh betrays Andrich's whereabouts, they swiftly intervene to rescue Keith and reunite him with his family.

The episode concludes with Vo revealing a secret apartment in the building to Wes, which boasts a golf simulator. Wes, an avid golfer, expresses his gratitude. Vo promises to assist him in navigating the Budapest dating scene, adding a touch of levity to the otherwise tense situation.
