Florida Man – Season 1 Episode 6

Published: Jun 26 2024

As episode 6 of Florida Man commences, Patsy and Deacon's family dinner unexpectedly expands to include two unexpected guests, Moss and Delly. But before we dive into the festivities, let's rewind the clock eight hours to uncover the intriguing events that preceded this gathering.

Moss, gun in hand, holds Delly hostage as Mike arrives at Benny's abandoned office. Informed that calling the police is futile as they are not the legal owners of the motel, Mike considers a bold move to confront Moss but ultimately decides against it. Delly confronts Moss, accusing him of killing her father. She confesses that she should have killed him when she had the chance.

Mike approaches Iris, who has planted a listening device in Delly's purse. Iris plays the audio from the room, revealing Delly's duplicity. She's playing both sides, giving Moss the impression that she's working with Mike to locate the gold, while planning to ditch Mike and join Moss after the job is done. She lies about not knowing the gold's whereabouts to ensure Moss doesn't kill Mike immediately.

Mike recognizes the truth, but Iris remains unconvinced of Delly's loyalty. She expresses concern for Mike, warning him that the pursuit of pirate treasure is a delusional quest. Mike offers to wear a wire to trap Moss' confession, knowing Iris cannot use the recording from the bug in Delly's purse without her knowledge.

Amidst these revelations, we learn that Patsy has moved forward with her plan to eliminate Jason, seemingly without remorse. She sends Tyler to the neighbor's house for dinner, unperturbed by her recent actions.

At the precinct, Kaitlin arrives and mentions Mike Valentine, catching Andy's attention. The two embark on a speculative theory, their ideas as flimsy as castles in the air. Kaitlin dreams of becoming an investigative journalist, while Andy seeks to emerge from Sonny's shadow.

Moss aims to surprise Mike and asks Delly to meet him at Sonny's. However, Mike is prepared for the encounter, knowing what lies ahead. He pretends ignorance of the place and Sonny, safeguarding his family. Mike insists he overheard Delly and Moss' conversation, prompting Delly to check her purse and discard the bug.

Mike's plan is to divert Moss' attention from the actual site to Gil's boat, even though he's aware of the truck. The plan seems to be working until Deacon walks in, spilling all the secrets, including Patsy's involvement, his address, and the impending dinner party.

Meanwhile, Ketcher attempts to steal a car at a gas station but desists when he realizes a young girl is inside. Sonny asks Mike to step aside and handle the situation himself, doubting Delly's loyalty to Mike, a suspicion that even Mike himself has begun to entertain.

Realizing she has nothing substantial, Kaitlin takes Mike's sketch from the station and ironically remarks, "That's enough for television." And with that, the scene shifts to the dinner, where the intriguing drama continues to unfold.

As Mike's eyes scanned the horizon and caught a glimpse of Iris, alarm bells rang. He feared she might have planted a transponder on Moss's car, but upon inspection, it was absent. Moss's admission of his affair with Delly only added to Mike's dismay, and his so-called "easy math" solution exposed his incompetence as a criminal mastermind. Mike attempted to caution Delly about her uncertain allegiance, but she remained silent, unresponsive.

Andy, having hit a brick wall in his investigation, was left to dismantle all his previous efforts. Lacy, another colleague at the station, revealed that the license plates Sonny had requested belonged to Dutch, the man who had perished in the port-a-potty explosion.

Amidst the facade of normality at the table, Patsy's confession shocked the room. She admitted to killing a man that day, yet remained in denial. She also disclosed to Mike and Sonny that she knew of their mother's suicide, a fact she had learned from a classmate in front of all the children. Mike retreated, leaving Sonny with a desire for Patsy to cease caring for her. She further confessed to cheating on Deacon during a canoe outing.

The group departed for Gil's boat, where Mike discovered the transponder beneath his car and swiftly flung it onto a passing truck at a red light, successfully distracting Iris. Randy, the dockmaster's assistant, alerted Iris of Buzz and Ray's presence on Gil's boat. Mike was intercepted by the police, summoned by Sonny to ensure he stayed clear of the scene. A gun was found in his car, leading to his arrest.

At the docks, Ray and Buzz were oblivious to Iris's identity. She strode in, gun in hand, and Buzz lunged at her. He plunged into the water, leaving Ray to confront her. In the final instant, Ray and Iris exchanged bullets, and from the grim scene, it seemed neither had survived.
